Icy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Icy Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Feb 07, 2017 7:27 am

Morning,

Having some freezing rain this morning. Not heavy but enough to slick up the roads, especially the snow covered roads like mine. Few schools are closed, mostly here, to the north and Northeast. Supposed to change to a mix later. Am not going anywhere anyway.

Ran a bunch of errands yesterday, so all stocked up again. Piper had an appt.for Rabies shot. Tok Molly along as Piper is more comfortable in truck when Molly is there. Plus Molly needed Pedicure. As it turned out, both dogs got a pedicure, Piper got her Rabies shot and since our vet that busy at that time, she offered to give Molly her Lepto shot, so now I don't have to take her back next month for that. think she was enjoying babying them. They got lots of treats this trip

Going to put my kitchen and entrance hallway back together today from the painting a few days ago. Still thinking on how I want to display my collectors plates. At old house, had them all along the upper soffits over the cupboards. They are too narrow to do that here. Also need to order cabinet knobs and drawer pulls for cupboards as there are none on them.

Wonder how the Hardee Lakes GTG is going. Either they are having so much fun, no time to post, what happens at Hardee Lakes stays at Hardee Lakes or they got so wild, the local authorities threw them in the slammer and threw away the key

Good morning to all. We are now back in Mazatlán where the weather is strangely cool. Highs for the next two week will be 77/78 with lows into the mid 50s! Unheard of here this time of year.
We had to get out of San Blas because the humidity and mold in the air really knocked Bill down. He couldn't breath, could only sleep. Just like when we lived in Indiana. By the time we were half way back to Mazatlán he was feeling human again.
Not sure what we will be doing now. Probably leave here earlier than we usually do as I want to go to California to see a couple of our kids. One of them, our second oldest son (56) just had a stroke. He is now home and resting. But I want to see him.
Now that we're back here where there is Internet I need to get caught up with everything.

Carol, sorry to hear about your son. Hopefully, the stroke didn't do too much damage.

Still not feeling too good but gotta list of things that need to be done today. Will get some of that done this morning and early afternoon, and then take a nap later on. It helps knowing I have a couple extra days to get things done now before I leave.

I ordered locks for the trailer and hitch and a locking steering wheel bar which should arrive today. I won't be able to get that window fixed before I leave and I don't want to take any chances on someone stealing the Jeep and/or U-Haul. I plan to pack everything in the U-Haul so there will be nothing in the Jeep at night to temp anyone since it would be easy to slit the plastic and get inside.

Hope you all have a great day! :D

Morning all!

Sue, sounds like a fun vet visit for the girls. That hardware in the kitchen, I had to do that in our condo in FL, 24 knobs and handles. Took me all day to drill all the holes and get it all on, but boy it looked great when it was done.

Carol, so sorry about your son, hope he has a full recovery. Hear you about the weather and your hubby has my sympathies. It's 61 here this morning and my mold allergy is in full swing, I just can't breathe. Supposed to hit a low tomorrow of 16, and I'm looking forward to it!

Barbie,I used to the same with my soft top Jeep, and I left the doors unlocked and the center console lid up. Got tired of people damaging it when there was nothing in it to take.

Good morning! We had a couple of nice days and todaybis supposed to get in the high 50's! Then the bottom falls out again and cold with snow tomorrrow clear into the week end! I went to wash my car yesterday and so did everyone else! It would a long, long wait so just said the heck with it and figured the rain would get rid of the dust on it! Sue, good day for you to just stay home! Looks like most of the storm is going more north of us.

I spent most of Sunday afternoon laying some carpet in my kitchen. I don't necessarily like carpet in the kitchen but I also didn't like the way my old guy was slipping on the bare floor. Figured it's cheaper then a big vet bill if he hurt himself. I had to move both the frig and island so that was quite a project! But it's done and looks nice and boys are more sure footed!

Carol, glad you got back to better breathing weather and hope your son has a speedy recovery. And Barbie, hope you start feeling better. Not what you needed with all you have on your plate. Donna, did I see that you're heading to PA next summer? Maybe a gtg?

Well, the morning is fast disappearing so guess I'd better get moving. Hope everyone at Hardee Lake are having a good time! Travel safe!

Good Morning, Carol, sorry to hear about your son. Where does he live? I have been wondering if there have been any riots/protests down where you are regarding the price of gasoline in Mexico? The border at San Yserdio has been closed once and awhile because of protests at the border. Maybe it is only in Baja that this is happening.

Rain for us! Is wonderful! Trip to Wal-Mart for me today. Am getting ready for my next trip...a big one to Florida! Martha, when are you leaving?
Have a great day all, Lyn

Good morning ladies
Sitting at the dermatologist waiting my turn. Hope to get a biopsy
on a troublesome spot. Too many things to do in near future, so
lets get this out of the way.
Y'all have a great day, be safe.

We are under a tornado watch but looks like the rain has passed us. It rained for about 5 minutes so guess I won't get my camper washed.

I bought knobs for the cabinets and drawers on my desk and managed to lose them before they got installed. They have to be in here somewhere. We have at least one of everything but don't know where it is. By the time I find some of the things Harold has bought he has forgotten what it was for.

I have seen a few posts from the GTG on Facebook.

I had a wonderful day yesterday at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Besides the usual ibis and great white egrets, I saw a tri-colored heron, Green heron, little blue heron, and a black-capped and a yellow-crowned night-heron! The place was relatively crowded with tourists, but that is more birds than I saw last November when it was deserted. It is unusual to see those last two night herons! And even with lots of people, the nice thing about the 2.5 mile boardwalk is that you can always find a quiet place to just sit for a while. Oh, and my right knee decided to act up so I could barely walk at the end and had to do more sitting before I could continue.

I have to spend some time today sorting out and posting photos on my blog.

Now the bad part. I had put on bug stuff, and got no bites in the Corkscrew, but I got home late after a stop at Camping World and LaMesa RV to try to find a toilet. I had supposedly ordered one from Camping World, but no one would call me back and confirm that it would be arriving on Thursday of this week so I stopped in. Got really angry as they seem to keep no records. Anyway, I am barely managing with my leaky toilet, but it meant I got home just at sunset.

Which, of course, meant some insect bites on my arms. I had washed the bug spray off my arms when I left the swamp, but had to dump my tanks here at the campground, which is no doubt where they got me. None of my legs, thankfully. :x The last batch had just settled down and were healing. So two Benadryl this morning. Should have taken some last night but did not notice bites then.

I'll be slowly headed north in mid-March. And I will be in Michigan and Ohio April 16 through May 9, so I am hopeful it will be too early for mosquitos then. Will be in Colorado by early June. I have been alternating winters in Florida and the desert southwest, but I may not come back to Florida again. I really like a lot about Florida, but the reactions to bites are really bad. I just took half of a vicodin because I cannot stand the burning and itching. Will take another half before I go to bed so I can sleep tonight. One should not have to take pain meds or go in for prednisone because of insect bites.

So, I fully understand your reasons for heading back north for health reasons.

Got my little trailer sold today! Got a few other things done, but by this afternoon, I was getting really worn out so went home and have been laying low since then. Still coughing and a slight fever and no energy.
I postponed the oil change until tomorrow morning and then will spend the next three days packing stuff up and redo the plastic on my back window to look a little less conspicuous.

Last week while I was gone, somehow one of the dogs here (the one who loves Lola) got in my room and spent the night in here. No one knows how she got in but my roommate found her the next morning. Now, my roommate just found Lola locked in her bedroom. I was wondering where she was but assumed she was sleeping under my bed. She must have jumped over the baby gate (that I put in my doorway during the day) after I left and went into that room unnoticed and my roommate shut her door when she left for the day.

Weather is beautiful here this week in mid 70's. Got my window open and listening to the birds chirping!

I hear you about liking some things about Florida, I'm finding I miss the beach so much; but with the odd warm weather we've been having here I've been having issues with my mold allergy this week, very definitely reminds me why we left FL.
