Sunshine Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Saturday

Morning everybody,

Middle weekend of January already. Moving right along here. Sunshine and a few clouds on forecast here. Looks like we are having a break from snow for the next week. Be good time to get out and do some bumming elsewhere beside this area. Today I'm heading into town to the RV show though. Should be fun to see what vendors are there and also the factory reps from Forest River, Coachman and Heartland I believe it was are supposed to be there. Will only be as big as a 30,000 sq. ft. building can accommodate, but hey, something to do in the middle of winter. Cheryl, know you are looking forward to heading to one today too, which of course will be way bigger than this one. You guys be careful out there as I know there is an ice storm heading that way. Might just miss the Chitown area, but not by much.

Spent yesterday browsing around town, getting some ideas for kitchen. Also going to have somebody come out and see how much it costs to replace the huge big bathtub in the spare bathroom with a smaller more normal sized one. Think i found the knobs I want for my kitchen cupboards. Will get them later. Not starting on that project as yet. Bathroom repaint etc. comes first and need knobs on the vanity and medicine cabinet doors too.

Liz, thanks for sharing the pics of yours and Tina's trip down Cross Creek. Lovely place and a lovely day to boot. Who can resist being out on such a beautiful day.

Time to move along here. Hope you all have a nice day today, keep safe those of you who may be in the icy forecast areas.

Mornin' Sue & all that follow ~~~

Heading to pick up the BIL in about an hour to head to the RV show & meeting up with cousin & her hubby. Sue, it's a small show, only 5 or 6 dealers. The BIG show in Rosemont is in February. I go to that show on Friday so I have the whole weekend in case I want to go back for another look-see. Either way, it's a chance to see some of the TTs with their slides out because the dealers around here keep the slides in in Winter (makes sense to me). I think I know what I want as an upgrade, but you never know what else is out there. I think I've been to all the dealers in the last few months for this show except for General RV. I don't like them much. Chains are not so good IMHO for pricing & services, but the pro is you can probably get maintenance service easier if needed.

Plus, will be some CGs there. Still batting around the idea of being a seasonal camper somewhere this summer so I can get out more because I can't take vaycay in the Summer :( , which leaves only Spring & Summer. Hoping I can find someplace close enough to get to on the weekends, and maybe also make it to work in the A.M. in case I stay during the week.

Martha that was scary with Harold! So glad only bumps and bruises. Carolb~have you talked to Kathleen (dayspring) lately? Sure miss her around here. I don't have her new phone number since she moved a while back. Hope she is doing OK.

Have a good day everyone & stay safe where ever you are.
Cheryl

Good Morning, We had the ice storm here yesterday. The forecast for 1/10 of an inch turned out to be 1/4" ACK!! Power was out for three hours and I was already cold and it was only got down to 65 in the back part of the house. We have huge soft pine trees on the north side and it sounded like bombs hitting the roof way too frequently. Our generator hasn't been working right for a long time despite frequent expensive attempts to have it repaired. I finally called again yesterday and a nice man did a couple of adjustments and showed me how to turn it on if it didn't start on automatic setting. I was quite thankful the power stayed on and I didn't need to use my new skill!! I'm beginning to dislike living here more and more. Summers are too hot and their are too many bugs/ticks especially, to do much outside. So since I can't make a decision, I just whine and wonder where that perfect climate exists!! It is supposed to be in the 60's early next week :?
Stay warm and careful if the storm comes your way.

Good Foggy Morning!

Martha, I would still be quaking over 'what might have been'! So glad Harold was hurt anymore than he was. Cheryl, Carolb may have more info on Kathleen, but she does pop up on FB and seems to be doing well. Kansas relatives are prepared for ice storm this weekend - BJ, glad you aren't still without power. We did that in Washington State one year for days - I remember watching the inauguration on a small battery operated TV. A bit envious of JudyJB at the beach, but I didn't plan that far ahead. I do have reservation at Donna's Wickham park for 3 nights next month. Sue, enjoy your days out and about!

Yesterday was definitely a Friday the 13th for me. Drove to Lakeland (about an hour) to look at trailers they had listed on line. No rain in forecast, but it rained! No salesman but marketing gal came out to 'help'. Trailer I wanted to see wasn't in stock after all - I should have called! She was no help regarding alternatives - kept showing me trailers that were much too long. Came home to do more research - what I'd really like costs more than I want to spend but may have to do it. My water pump quit - it has been acting up for awhile. Website says nearby RV place is closed on weekends so not going to worry about it until Monday. It's a new day! I have neighbors here who all want SS rides so will do that sometime. Some of us are having our rigs washed on Monday.

Everyone stay safe and make it a great day!

Go Seahawks!!

Morning all!

BJ - we got hit with the same storm, although we didn't get that much ice... yet. I don't know if you gals have ever tried "Stabilicers" but they are worth their weight in gold on ice and packed snow, we picked some of these up when we got back from FL to replace the ones we gave away, they are great!! http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/90903?moe=ordhistory

Looks like an inside day today, wish I was with Cheryl looking at Rv's!

Martha - I hope Harold is feeling better today.

Anita - I've been on this forum for a while, and I finally have to ask... what is SS?? :D I see it often and assumed it's the nickname for your truck camper pictured in your signature line, am I right?

Good morning ladies
Trying to get laundry started but not having much luck there,
seems I keep getting side tracked looking, oohing and awwing
over my pretty rocks. Making plans for an expedition soon. Also
thinking about the grocery list for meals for Q. Were thinking
going on Friday the 21st and staying until the 26th. My last pay
check hits the bank on the 26th, so I won't stress over having gas
to get home. Gas is on me and I have no idea what to expect in
that dept. I only know it takes about $200 to fill the tank, and
it's 192 miles. Not to mention needing to make sure we have plenty
of gas to run the generator. We are both on a tight budget right
now and want to of course have spending money without draining
the bank account.
Liz and Tina,, loved the pictures of your adventure.
Guess I better get started on that laundry, y'all have a great day,
be safe and stay warm.

I'm trying not to be too lazy this morning. Sam's Club here has free health screening today. Not knowing what's happening with my insurance, I'm watching for these things. I'm going to to head over and hope it's not long lines. Then back to the library for some data heavy computer work.

It looks like the rain that's been hitting southern California will be coming through here the next few days, bringing some cooler days, too. Time for long pants and real shoes. Luckily nothing as heavy as California got is predicted here.

Have a great day everyone!

Pat, I would love to replace the big tub that came in our "modular home." I don't know why anyone would want one of these things. I have to get in it to clean it. I would do it if it wouldn't involve rerouting the plumbing, fixing the big hole they cut in the floor and replacing all the flooring. I can see where that could run into some money. We have a handicap shower in that bathroom so don't even use the tub.

There is an RV show in Lake Charles which is about 2 hours West of here. Too far to drive just to be nosey. I am still having a problem with my foot. It's better until I do a lot of walking and aggravate it.

BJ, I'm not sure where that perfect climate is. I think it's what you are willing to put up with. Our winters aren't bad but in the summer we have heat and hurricanes. And bugs year round. I have been seeing posts about the asian beetles. We are starting to see them around here. I had one in my car the other day and was about to have a wreck trying to get it out because I wasn't bringing it home with me.

Anita, I saw an SS in Lafayette yesterday. Thanks to you I knew what it was. Yes, I am still quaking about what could have happened to Harold. We worry about him all the time because he still thinks he can do what he use to do but he can't.

Beth, be careful about what you find out at the health screening. One of my friends went to one of those. She had a bunch of tests ran because of some of the things they supposedly found and it all turned out to be nothing.

Mickie, you missed all the posts about Anita's cross country trip in her SS.

Guess I better get dressed and find something to do.

Sunny here today also. This campground really does have the best ocean views of all state parks in Florida. Yes, I did have to get up at 4:30 am a few times to snag this premium site, but the two weeks here are more than worth it. There are only 4 sites at this state park big enough for a 32'+ rig and on the ocean side without shrubbery that blocks the view, so they are very hard to get. When there is a hard-to-get site like this one, I will try several times to get one of the spots I want and then infill with other campgrounds that are easier to book. The good thing about Florida state parks is that once you are at a campground, there is no fee for cancelling the last few days that you reserved! So I make a reservation slightly longer than I want and then cancel the last days if I need to.

So, now I can sit inside working on my computer with a full front view of ocean waves and people on the beach! Great places to bike ride to also because highway A1A has a sidewalk along it--no bike trails, but sidewalk will do. And there are also some back roads nearby that I can ride on.

So, today is a rest day. I took a two-hour kayak tour on Thursday and then took two long bike rides yesterday, so my shoulders and upper arms are really sore. I'll do more biking tomorrow and then on Monday am headed to climb the Ponce Inlet lighthouse and visit the museum. Been there before and really like the Fresnel lens museum there.

Martha, I'm very pleased with what I had done. I got a mini eye exam which told me my glasses still have the right prescription, so I can order a new pair. I got my cholesterol and blood sugar tested... Blood sugar very good, cholesterol where I expected, so I'm good with that. BMI where I expected... Meaning I have to lose some of the weight I gained. And no doctor to lecture me. I'm very pleased.

I worked until 9pm last night and then had to be at work before 8am this morning. I was exhausted today! I am scheduled to work every day thru Thursday. Finally making some decent money tho! There are only 5 of us left at the salon now so they need us to work pretty much every day now. Wonder what they plan to do when I leave in 2 weeks?

It was luckily slow at work this afternoon (haircut sale is finally over!!) so they let me go home at 1pm. I went straight home and took a 3 hour nap! Plan to go to bed early tonight. Work from 9-4 tomorrow. I am SO looking forward to going out to Q on Thursday afternoon for the weekend!

I need to get my eyes and ears examined. I think I need a new eyeglass prescription, and my hearing is not very good lately. I plan to sign up for ACA soon but not sure that will do any good if it is done away with.

Hope you all are having a good weekend!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
