Painting Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Painting Day

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jan 10, 2017 7:49 am

Morning everyone,

Up and at em for another day on this earth. Think it's going to be painting the living room ceiling. That's the biggest one of the whole house, so will be good to get it done. Surprising how a new coat of ceiling paint can dress up a room, especially when the ceiling is in need of a face lift. I have never enjoyed painting ceilings, but of late, I think they are easier to do that the walls as no taping, other than maybe a light fixture, no having to work around doors, windows etc. Just paint edges with a brush and then stand on the floor and roller away. Gives the upper arms some exercise.

We are having another winter storm today. This one was supposed to have dumped between 3-6 inches of snow here overnight and I think there maybe be one. But it's warmed up and the snow is almost a rain, which is supposed to come later this afternoon for awhile. I hate to see rain this time of year as the side roads are all snowpacked and it just turns them to ice. But snow coming in again later after that. Original forecast called for 6-10 inches by tonight, but don't think that's gonna happen. So it's a good day to stay in and do the painting.

Looking forward to going to the RV show this weekend too. Will be something different and gets one out and about with like minded folks. Ever notice how you get into conversations with other people will looking at rigs. Although this is a dealers show and the only rigs there will be what they carry, the do have a variety, so will be fun to see what they have out. I spotted one on the local dealers website that has me intrested, but have to see what my current TT is worth. Plus gotta study those finances too. New truck is on the horizon and the income tax man cometh too.

So, guess that's about it from the 45th today. Hope you all have a nice day out there. Mickie, forgot to wish you and Mary a belated Happy Anniversary yesterday. Hope you had a nice day and were able to go out for a nice dinner or whatever. Reading about you cleaning guns took me back to those days too. Although i like the smell of gun oil. Don't have any around here anymore though.

Nothing much going on here. Working later today and then tomorrow off.

Have a good one!

Sue, you have inches of snow, while the Sierras just a hour or two or 6 depending on road conditions, will have Seven Feet of new snow when this storm leaves!
We are inside watching the rain today. Have had over an inch overnight. That sounds like a little to many of you, but here that combined with run off is leading to evacuations for some towns due to Imminent flooding! and since Jan 1, we have had over 5 inches plus feet of rain in the foothills which all comes, downhill. Last night they said 135,000 cubic feet per second of water pouring into Folsom Lake near us!
Not a lot planned today but will go put a pot of beans in Instant Pot here shortly for supper later. I love how I can cook beans from dry in about an hour with electric pressure cooker. Saves this procrastinator!
Ava, bet there are a lot of mixed feelings about now. I remember my husbands apprehension as his day approached. A few months later it changed to why didn't I do this a year ago?!

It's another beautiful Arizona day. I might have to purchase a hammock as my site has the hammock poles cemented into the ground and the days like this just call for me to be out there with a book.

Last night's sunset was almost overwhelming. I took a couple pictures, one to follow, but can't even begin to tell how it kept changing. It ended looking like the entire western horizon was on fire.

Ava, I know you'll settle into your retirement fairly quickly. But it is a big change, and somewhat scary.

Velda, I hope the rains don't cause too much damage. As much as California still needs rain, it wants gentle rains.

Thank you Beth. It's been a trying day for our region. We are fine here at home but more small towns are being evacuated tonight. Feel for all those who will return to a mess. We had over 2.5 inches of rain in 24 hours. Are now over 6 in 7 days. And at about double our rainfall forthis day in our rain year. We need it, but hope we don't have any levee breaks which could mundane small towns. So far most of the billions spent on improvements since '97 are proving their worth. Later in the week they say we will get a break.
PS the beans, grown in Lodi Ca, just down the road, a heirloom non GMO variety, we're fabulous. Creamiest, best tasting beans. Their name was Tiger beans. Pricey at $7 a lb but so good.

Beth - gorgeous picture of that sunset. Thanks for sharing.

Velda - Good weather to use that pressure cooker. I used mine a couple weeks ago to make stew. What are Tiger beans? Have not heard of those.
