MONDAY AND BACK TO WORK

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

MONDAY AND BACK TO WORK

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Apr 20, 2009 3:58 am

GOOD MORNING, ALL!!

As I am feeling quite fine today, other than having just a tad of my cough left over, I suppose I must drag myself back to the salt mines of the library. I can't even begin to iterate just how I despise it when my alarm goes off in these before-dawn hours, and every year it gets harder and harder to tolerate it. I MUST keep in mind that this will be the next-to-last April that I will have to keep such a tortuous schedule! Part of me wants to make it THIS June, but practical me knows I need one more year to get my debts down to a manageable sum for retirement.

I noticed a black cat with green eyes hanging around my yard as of yesterday...I saw it twice. I am so hoping it might possibly belong to someone down the road from me. If it doesn't, it will be about the 20th cat people have dumped off out here throughout the years. This time, I will NOT adopt it, but try to catch it and take it to the shelter before another winter sets in. My old cat is on his way out, and I do NOT want another kitty to be responsible for when his life is over.

Hazlenut coffee here again this morning, and others will have to drop off the goodies, as I can't even think of food at this hour! I eat at about 10:30 at school---my lunch period----which is really a late breakfast rather than a lunch.

I hope you all have something fun planned for today and that you can share it with us all! Most of you are in the stages where you are experiencing an endless weekend, although a few are still maintaining that work schedule as I am. Gimmee that forever weekend!

This is the day of the Columbine tragedy/mess. I hope those kids so inclined to worship the deeds of the Columbine duo (oh yes---we have a couple of boys who dress in trench coats, try to wear sunglasses, seem to emulate those sickies) will not be inclined to celebrate today. I will have my eyes on them all day.

Wow, this spring break went by all together TOOOOOO QUICKLY!

Back to work for me tomorrow. We're burning an unused snow day today. One more to go which will be tacked onto Memorial Day Weekend. So today i have to really make the hours count around here,... finish up some work I haven't gotten done yet. I could use another week,..hee hee.....

I know what you mean Soos about kids dressing weird at school. I guess I'm showing my age, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they try to make themselves look as mis-matched and frumpy as possible when underneath I know they are wonderful kids. I get several of them in the computer lab often and have had a chance to get to know them. great kids! I guess it's another incident of "don't judge a book by its cover!" Trench coats are not allowed in school here. Nobody tries to wear them either,... whew. In fact here it seems to be the fad to not wear a coat at all! Brrrrr....... I was referring more to the "goth" style of dressing.

Had three deer in front of my deck this morning. They circle around their route and are here about every fourth morning. Used to be five. Hmmmm? I think they are the fawns and yearlings of last year. Looking full grown now. So far no horns.

OK, gotta get busy,...wasting daylight here!

Have a great day everyone!

What a calm peaceful way to start your day, sitting on your deck, watching deer stroll by. I bet it' hard to leave that setting and go on to work, but you can look forward to the same peaceful end of your days. Cedar, you and Soos are living in a beautiful place. Soos, I remember that feeling when nearing retirement...didn't know if I could last 2 more years...then the Lord set the date sooner than expected. The year of "Cancer" wasn't fun, but now retired and in remission, I'm having fun now. Just think, all next year you can think, "this is the last 1st day of school I have to work, etc."

Saturday after our hike, I stopped at a different National Forest cg to use their dump station. I truly believe the Lord puts you places at particular times to serve His people. Ahead of me at the dump staion (great place to meet people  ) I noticed a woman with a Roadtrek the same size as I used to have. I got out to ask her how she liked it and found out it was her first time dumping and she was having trouble. So I donned my gloves and showed her how. Her name was Lynn from Long Island. She recently purchased the RT from an individual and was on her first long trip, traveling alone. We chatted some more about the virtues of her RT and I referred her to this great group of ladies on our forum. I hope she'll join us here soon.

Today I have some phone calls to make to finish putting things in order before I leave for AK.....just 3 more weeks! And the rv needs a thorough cleaning inside and out after camping and driving down the dusty forest roads. Then, after an oil change and service next week, it'll be time to start packing! Yippee!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning, ladies!

Soos, glad you're feeling better. We live W A Y out in the country, too, and people are always throwing out animals. I have to walk into the house when I see one because if I don't, it'll be living at The Blue Marlin. When we first moved here, I tried what I could to find them homes. The shelters won't take them because they're all full. It just breaks my heart, literally...I get sick to my stomach.

A few weeks ago, there was a black puppy (not tiny, but you could tell she was very young). She looked soooo skinny, I had to go feed her. Well, like Liz said, I think God sometimes puts people where they're needed most. That weekend the puppy showed up in the road, we had visitors from up north where we used to live. It was a young, unmarried couple (the only child of my best friend who died 3 months ago, and his girlfriend). Well the girlfriend fell in love with Lilly and ended up taking her home. Lilly had hundreds (no exaggeration) of ticks sucking her dry. Theresa and I took Lilly to the vet down here to make sure she was fundamentally healthy. Longer story short - Lilly now is healthy, happy, tick-free, and an excited puppy living in the cold tundra known as the far west Chicago suburbs. What a happy ending. It should be against the law for some people to own pets - who could ever throw out a puppy or dog or cat out the window of their car. Winter's here aren't horrible, but they're bad enough. I shudder when I think about it.

Well, today is our 35th Wedding Anniversary! (to each other...) I think we're going to try a new restaurant for lunch, and then come home and I'll get to spend the evening with my heartthrob, Jack Bauer!!

Have a fun day! And Soos, you're on the countdown to The Forever Weekend! :)

Well,.... I SHOULD have said what a great celebration and "Happy Anniversary!" :D

I was just in shock at seeing the name Jack Bauer,... a guy by that name used to go to school here for a few years then moved away. Just wondering if it's the same? :?:

Jack Bauer (aka Keifer Sutherland) is the hero in Fox's tv series - 24. He is busy every Monday evening trying to save the United States from terrorists or drug cartels who usually have their mitts on nuclear weapons set to destroy some part of America. (oh, be still, my heart...)

Good Morning all; Happy Anniversary Mitch!

More damage - roof, trees, power lines, etc - around the No. AL area here in last nights storms. This time 2 people lost their lives; slightly different areas but both were in trailer parks. After this AM our weather is looking better for remainder of week. I'm looking forward to calm winds and sunshine.

Cedar, I can just picture the deer wandering by your deck. My sister had deer in her yard frequently when she lived in a remote area of VA. They raided her bird feeders.

Soos, that retirement date will arrive much faster than you think. One slight drawback to retirement I found after working all my life is not knowing what day of the week or month it is. Most of the time that is not very important, but once in a while you do need to know such info.

Stay safe, warm, and happy today.

Happy Anniversary Michelle and DH! HAve a great day.

Last day of the rally here - and I have to get ready to go. Wanted to attend a seminar at 8:30 this morning, but just decided to sleep in - but AM going to attend one at 10:30 - so off I am. Sparkle and I will attend 2 different ones - I wish I could be in 2 places at once. But she'll tell me what I miss in the other one.

Have a great day all.

Good-morning !! Happy Anniversary Mitch, May you have many many more. I like your choice of evening entertainment.

I'm late on here this morning, because I have been called for Jury Duty. Reported in at 9:30 and at 10, was sworn in and then told by the Judge to report back at 2 this afternoon. Guess the jury will be selected at that time for the first case, that needs a jury. Like murder, and dope cases and boy, I really don't want to be on one of them. As Liz, said 3 more weeks and I'm gone, ( I HOpe). What an awful time to get called for jury duty. I have so many things including another dr. app., to do before I'm off to Alaska. Oh well, will quit whining for now.

I'm glad today worked out as it did, as I had no one to take Maggie out, and she gets a water pill in the mornings, along with heart medication. So for today, we're ok.

Need to get over and see what everyone has been up to, need to do a few chores around here before I head back to court. The thread that Sarah started is so interesting, and I hated leaving this morning and couldn't even check it out. Beth and Sparkle, need checking on too, they're having just way to much fun. Think it was Jan, who started the thread for "whats under your blanket"? Another interesting topic and helps to get to know everyone better. Some smart ladies on here.

Have a great day, for those who are traveling, stay safe and have lots of fun.

Take care all,
Carol

For you 24 fans - I am, by far, the most unphotogenic person in the entire world, but hey - I needed a picture of me and President Allison Taylor...

Image

I also bid on, and won, a machine gun casing fired by Jack in an episode this season. I plan to send it to a Yankee friend of mine who LOVES and WANTS Jack BIG TIME! :) I really wanted to get her a Jack Action Figure, but the starting bid was $80!!! A little rich for a gag gift!!

This all happened this weekend because actress Cherry Jones, who plays the current U.S. President on 24, is originally from Paris, TN. She came back to town to raise money for the Performing Arts Center and Heritage Center (both in Paris). Very, very nice and gracious woman (her, not me...)

Thanks Mitch for clearing up that Jack Bauer thing. I can see why I haven't heard of him,...action stuff isn't my cup of tea. Heck,.. I don't even like tea! But I sure can understand how addicted one can become when a tv series has nice "scenery".... for me it will always be the Canadian tv series "North of 60"... I have every episode (90) and all follow-up movies on tape. The scenery I watched is Gordon Tootoosis,... ahhhhhhhh......

Now I'll go wipe the drool off my chin and get back to work! :D
