Cool Sunday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sun Aug 21, 2016 6:14 am

Morning all,

Been just lurking past couple days, so thought I had better check in before you wonder where I am. But been enjoying reading all the new posts and Dianna, nice to see you jump in as well. Anita, been enjoying your travels. You are making good progress despite what the GPS says

It's a cool 61 here this morning. Had a good rainy spell since Friday so things are starting to green up again. Tonight's low is predicted 49' so can tell fall is coming. Just been puttering around here past couple days, unpacked some totes etc. went to Farmers Market and a small antiques show yesterday. Bought an old but good wood sled with the steel runners like I used to have as a kid. Going to make a winter decoration out of it. Or maybe I should head for a hill, Not sure what I am getting into today yet, first off to church than maybe organize the garage more or the shed. Need to work on getting trailer ready to head north to U.P. on 31st. Hope you al have a Blessed Sunday.

Good Morning,

Quick motel breakfast - gonna be a long day. Rain yesterday was okay but roads to wet to trust SS not to lose traction. So stopped in Searcy AR. Reservation for tonight is non refund but 12 hour drive. All I 40 so I may make it!

Make it a good day!!

Good morning Sue and Anita and everybody else... I just wanted to say if my post look goofy please try and read between the lines autocorrect takes my words away and puts different words in even after I've read it before I pushed the post button.. I sure wish I had the nesting urge sometimes like you do Sue and then I think of having to take care of a house and everything that goes along with it and that's one of the reasons I sold my house in Pennsylvania and now I gotta get rid of dads stuff eventually but I don't think I really want to go back to nesting... it's hard to figure out what you want to do when you're in limbo... I did not realize you were just on the SS Anita and did not have your campertruck.. Margie and I headed back from a road trip yesterday so now I am back in Camp driveway but not for long Margie and I are going next weekend to Anastasia State Park st. Augustine and start exploring a few things up there I have not been there but she has... my refrigerator lost power in the RT so taking it in in the morning and they are going to look at it I've tried to troubleshoot it but can't find the answer... well everybody have a good one & B safe ...donna

Good Morning to All. Sunday all ready? Where do the days go? We are still in Arizona about 40 miles south of Flagstaff. Our weather radio wouldn't shut up yesterday. Nee to find a manual. First time it went off I almost broke my knees on the table I jumped so high. Bad weather all around us. 60 mph winds, 50 piece size hail and torrential rains. Just 8 miles away. We got 10 rain drops and a few minutes of wind. But really black skies all afternoon. Didn't dare go out in the desert just in case.
Today will be a TV day at least in the morning. A soccer game and the race that was postponed from last night. IF, big if, the weather stays clear will go exploring the 4 x 4 dirt roads around Sedona some more. Dont want to go into town - Sundays are nothing but a big parking lot on the roads.
Just got email - 7th great grand baby arrived yesterday. Got here quilt done and mailed just in time.
Nice and cool this a.m.
Hope the I-40 is in better shape where you are than here in AZ. Take care traveling.

Had my granddaughter spend the night. Boy, can that kid talk nonstop!! She is very helpful, however. Taking her back to parents so I can get some work done.

Big suggestions to anyone putting furniture in storage. My beautiful dining room table that matches my hutch was ruined by water and mildrew. Had it setting on its side, but on bare concrete. Make sure you put plastic down on the floor if concrete and them put EVERYTHING up on 2x4s or something to keep them off the ground. Then I think I would even put more plastic under them just in case. Anyway, set with hutch I paid $2,000 for in 1974 is trash!! Even the chairs had buttons that were rusting.

Other solution, I guess, is on second floor of climate controlled building. Anyway, we hauled ruined mattresses to dumpster--one was brand new when I put it in there. Put all in mattress plastic bags but that did not help. Brought kitchen table and other stuff to son's house to basement. Kitchen table has mold and wood damaged on one side, but it can be sanded and revarnished

Judy, we put down plastic as well as boards (2x4s) under things. I did find a bit of mold on a some things, but in the Pacific NW it could have been worse. This was when Steven was alive so was in storage for over 4 years. Such a shame to have things ruined.
