Beautiful Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Beautiful Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jun 02, 2016 6:43 am

Morning,

Beautiful sunny skies here in northern MI this morning, after a rainy afternoon yesterday . We needed it badly and still could use more, but it was a good rain and things are green again.

Was so nice seeing so many posts yesterday and catching up on what a lot of our "sisters" are doing. Melissa, sorry you had to get some sinus surgery done, hope it helps and you are feeling better. Velda, I'm sure it feels good not having to "do anything" as you said and deal with a lot of problems for Mel. anita, you sound like you are really enjoying the SS group and the "attention" too.

I"m going to do something RV related today and that's clean and organize my trailer. Then will be ready for the season. Last year at this time I was rolling across the plains heading to Yellowstone. This year I am packing and rolling to a new house. But next month we are going to be rolling back on the road again. I did some more packing of stuff yesterday and really can't do much more for about another week now. So will turn attention to touching up nail holes were pictures hung and also getting materials and making a gate for new fence at the house. Looks like weekend might be a little wet, so can work inside then.

So am going to start moving around here. Dogs woke me up earlier than I wanted, but once those face washes start, you can't ignore them. They both gave me a bath despite my taking one before bed last night  So guess my day has started. Hope you all have a nice one.

Good Morning Everyone !! Its overcast and grey here this morning, we've been promised rain, none yesterday so maybe today, my grass I noticed yesterday is getting brownish, so we need it. I realized yesterday, my forum icon did not switch over either, and this morning I went into the web and found you all :D now to figure out how I can make it handy to get on here again. Mail still not coming in, so 10 and I, are in a battle here   I'm not all that concerned about it as I have been trying to stay off of here and get some things done around here. Worked on my big bathroom yesterday, all the walls are mirrors so now to vacuum and that room should be done, its cleared of all that is not necessary and I don't or won't use. After a good vacuuming will continue onto the big walk in closet, and I already know where most of that is going, its been hanging in there for a couple of years and I haven't worn it and have no desire too, so have bags ready :D Found we have a thrift store that funds go to our county resource center, where if you have a problem of some sort you can go there and they will help. So that is a good place for all my stuff that up to this point I've had a wee problem with letting go. I have gotten rid of so much stuff , had so many yard sales, gave two other people a car and truck load of stuff for them to have a yard sale and I still have soooooooo much stuff let, I can't believe it, I have hauled off so much stuff, its growing here I know it is every winter I leave it moves in

Well enough of my woes here, I've got a call into A/C people, I am way down on the list for help, so most of my working time where I expel any energy and get warmish is in the morning when temps aren't into the 90's yet. Neighbors friend came out and found my trouble, but he was unable to fix it for me, at least he showed up

I'm not to sure what everyone is up too, but I do hope everyone is well and that you're all able to do the things that make you the happiest,
Take care and Please stay safe,
CArol
My son called, I'm so relieved, he is near all that flooding in Texas, but not in it and listening to warnings etc, so that makes my day so much better. He's working out there and to be honest, I will be glad when he can go back to Co. :D but then again storms of some sort seem to be everywhere .

Good morning :D
Have to take a drive into the valley today, Maggie has an appt for her rabies
shot and to get a loose tooth pulled. Will load some stuff from the fifth wheel
to bring up to Superior and wait for UPS to bring my last prescription. Will be back
on my way to superior before it gets too hot. Suppose to be 103 in the valley but 93
in Superior. Got insurance on the motorhome, next is tags and start making plans.
In the meantime we watch the birds at the feeder and just relax. Y'all have a great day
be safe.

Morning everyone!

Sue - rolling across the plains sounds like more fun than rolling next door.

CArol - your mention of winter made me think, if we end up moving back to Illinois I won't have any winter stuff to wear because I donated it all. Guess I'll have to do some shopping. LOL

Ava - I was thinking how HOT that sounds, then realized it will be mid 90's here today with crazy humidity... guess we both get to be hot. :D

I'm making peace with the move idea, my asthma is still bad but a bit better with the new inhaler so we may be able to stay here a while longer. We'll still end up going home at retirement because of healthcare costs, but that's okay, we have tons of benefits from being state/university retirees so we'll get to take advantage of those.

Enjoy New York. World-class museum this afternoon and theatre tonight. That's why big cities are allowed to exist! Ok, I know that's not objectively true, but in my universe it's the truth. But why do they have to be so hot?

Meeting son's new girlfriend tonight. I already like her from Facebook, so that's exciting too.

Good Morning All, I completely forgot to sign in yesterday. I went to the lab first thing in the morning to get a blood draw (fasting) then got caught up in the morning rush hour getting home to walk the dog, and decided the day was messed up so sat and read the rest of the day.

Today I am "sitting" the daughters dog. That means I get to walk the two dogs together. That's a fun experience!

Saw the picture of Anita and the SS on Facebook....what a fun time you are having!

I have to slow down loading stuff into the new TT until I get the top for the truck. Several items will go into the truck.

NCAA world series of Softball began today...four games on TV!!! I will watch what I can.

Beautiful and sunny here in northern NM, but in upper 70s, not 100s, luckily or I would be headed north fast! At 7,000 feet right now. Took the Cumbres and Toltec railroad yesterday and enjoyed it. It has rained for last three days in late afternoon, which is nice because they need the rain.

My son's cat (male but neutered) returned after 5 days with an infected hole in his side--maybe a bite from other cat or fox?? So on Memorial Day, off to emergency vet they went for surgery because of how deep bite was--cost was $1,000. This is same cat who last year had a cut in his eyeball and had to have treatment by a kitty ophthalmologist to the tune of $800, so my son says his new rapper name is "2K". My belief is that they left something in when they supposedly neutered him because he is confrontational with other cats and also my son caught him staring down a coyote one day. I know, they should not let him out, but that is what my daughter-in-law has always done with her cats. They live backed up to a vineyard in Napa, and there are hills in the distance, so lots of wildlife, but this cat is really stupid. Eye problem was probably due to cat fight.

I am headed west to Navajo Dam, NM, and then back to Utah briefly. Have to make another trip to Atlanta because uncle is having first three-day chemo treatment. Rest will be only one day, but they are concerned about how this will go and how his wife will react, so I will stay with them.

And, Carol, it certainly is amazing how much useless junk we accumulate. I tossed 1/3 of what I owned when I moved from a house to a condo, then 13 years later tossed out at least another 60% when I bought my motorhome and went full time. I still had a bunch of furniture in storage and gave most of that to my Ohio son. In August I am going to try to get it down to a dozen boxes! :o

Judy, I hate to tell you but neutering a cat does not keep them from fighting. We have 5 house cats, 4 female and one male. The male's name could probably be "2K" also if I added up all his vet bills. He is an inside only cat because I got tired of taking him to the vet for abscesses. All of our cats both inside and outside are fixed but they will still slap each other. Now he and one of the females stalk each other. It seldom comes to blows but he has a place on his head that has been a sore so many times that it will probably never grow any hair. I raised Frosty on a bottle because a friend found him and talked me into taking him. As my vet says, he never learned "cat manners."

One time one of our indoor/outdoor cats had a swollen place on her side. I took her to the vet and when they shaved her she had 4 puncture wounds, two on each side. It looked like something had tried to bite her from the top and she got away. If they have coyotes he better be an inside only cat or one day he will disappear.

Lyn, since you said something about the Ragin Cajuns I have kind of been listening to the sports on the local news. Not that any of it means much to me. They are moving to a new field so that is the main thing they are talking about right now.

It has made it back to the 90's today but more rain has almost made it here from Texas. The poor people in Texas have flooding again. The campground in Banderia that I stayed at in April flooded and some trailers were washed away. That campground has 2 levels and goes down to a river. They had just had to move the lower campers to the upper level the week before we got there. I sure hope we don't have another 10 inch rain.

On break at work right now. Gorgeous sunny and cool day but hear there are nasty storms headed this way for tomorrow. :o

Had my guy friend come by yesterday and fixed my laptop (windows 10) issues. Checked for viruses but didn't find any. Also got my chromebook to play videos which it wouldnt do before. It is all a learning process!

Finally heard back from my daughter's dad and I get to see her next Monday!! Yay! (For those who dont know, i placed her for adoption when she was born and get one visit per year with her. She is 15 now).

Hope you all have a good day and stay high and dry!

My son's cat is also a big cat. They brought home a male and female from the same litter almost two years ago, but the female is not a problem. They also have an older, smaller female cat, and she has to be kept in my grandson's room because this larger male bullies her.

I told my son at least they should at least lock all the cats inside at night, but I doubt they will do it. There is a chain link fence separating them from the vineyard, but the cats can crawl under it. There are huge jackrabbits back there and coyotes and who knows what else. That part of Napa is on the edge of rural vineyards, so lots of wildlife. I would not be surprised if mountain lions came in from the hills that are only a little over a mile on either side. The cats also bring in mice, birds, snakes, and baby rabbits--all in the middle of the night and all live. They have had multiple snakes slithering around their house.

There was an interesting program on a few months ago where they took this small British town and put tracking devices on nearly all the cats. Put cameras on some of them. Instead of hunting, many of the cats patrolled against other cats, even those that lived in the same house as they did. One cat moved into a neighbors house. They determined it was because the other cats in her own house beat her up and restricted her movement and access to food at night when the owners were sleeping. She moved into another house because he had no pets!! So I know multiple cats are not always a good idea, but my son keeps getting them in pairs on the theory they will be company for each other.

Anyway, cat has a big wound and two drains on his side.

Cats are sure funny as in strange. lol Two of our house cats are sisters. They tolerate each other but they are sure not buddies. I see pictures of cats sleeping together but our house cats don't. We have 10 barn cats. Two of them stay at the barn all the time. Eight of them go to the barn to eat but most of the time they are laying on the old carport or the back porch. Those 8 get along pretty good and several are buddies.

After hurricane rita we kept having barn cats go missing. I think it was because the flood killed all the things that coyotes and bob cats ate so they were taking our cats. We fixed a stall at the barn so the cats couldn't get out. We would feed them late in the afternoon and shut them up for the night. They really didn't like that and after a while it was really hard to get them all in the stall.

We went through the mice and lizards in the house from one of the house cats. Thank goodness she never found a snake. Our cats would have to go to the neighbors to find something to hunt now.
