Judy, I, too, like grackles. I was furious once at a park in TX when they decided to trim a tree that had a nest with babies in it. Let me tell you, while they knocked the nest down and the babies died - which really upset me and some others at the park, that mom WENT BALLISTIC on the guys - several got hurt, not seriously enough in my mind, but she was not happy, and neither were they - they couldn't finish trimming that tree until later. Idiots.

My condolences to your family on the loss of your Mom, Pat.

Grackles are really very pretty during mating season. But they are awful if you happen to park your car under a bird sleeping tree!! You may have to drive it into the bay and soak it to get the stuff off the car!
