Tuesday - first night spent in house

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday - first night spent in house

Postby asirimarco » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:54 am

Good Morning to All. Guess I got up early enough to start this. It is 5:00 a.m. here and the AC just kicked on. We had the hottest low on record for last night. Coolest it got was 87. Today is supposed to be another hot one - up over 110. By Wednesday it will start cooling down to low 100. I'm sure glad Bill is feeling so much better in this weather than he did in Indiana. Though it is too hot for either of us to be too active. We are getting things done here at the house. Finally stayed here overnight. Just too hot in the Alfa.
Spent yesterday on line setting up banking and payments with the new bank acct. Paying bills and catching up on other things. Then we got a delivery and we put together part of our new entertainment set.
Managed to stub my broken toe - so now its swollen and sore again.
We are getting more and more settled - have DirectTV and Internet people coming this week, Yeah! Theres still stuff that has to be done to our home. The patio roof and front awning will go up next week. Knobs for the kitchen - when they get here. And hopefully someday our furniture from Indiana will show up. Then we will be busy.
Probably put the Alfa in storage Thursday. There is storage right here in the complex.
Nothing but coffee this morning - but plenty of it.
Every one on the road drive safe and enjoy.

Good morning Carol and all other ladies!

Good to see you open MC this morning and good to hear that while it's hot, Bill is feeling so much better. I was wondering about how you are dealing with the heat when I saw the weather this morning and they said the heat wave continues for the southwest. I told my DH that I have to pay attention to the weather all over the country now as I have friends all over the place!

Nothing new or exciting here in IL this morning, had a little rain go through last night but I guess a bit north of us it was so windy that lots of trees came down. Hope Cheryl didn't get any damage from it. We only got some rain, enough to make mud for the dogs to carry in and make it more humid as the sun comes up.

Still thinking on where to go this weekend, it will be my last free one til I head for Shishe. May just head down to the club and boondock in the primitive area. Unfortunately I will need to refill Angel's gas tank and I don't think the prices have returned to their lower levels yet. I think that's just a big scam to get more money because the gas prices have been so low for so long.

Breakfast was a tasty piece of apple pie (leftover from the party still!) warmed up in the micro and a nice cup of coffee. There's still one piece left, whoever gets here first can have it LOL.

Everyone have a great day and take care,
Kathy

Mmmmm, pie! I'd call dibs but it might not last the two days it would take for me to get there. ;)

It's errand day, it seems like stores don't have as much on the shelves since the recession, three stores to find Rolaids, and three other stores for cilantro and flax meal... and none had cilantro. Pretty frustrating.

Hope everyone has a super day!

I'm surviving (so far) the diet, etc for the colonoscopy, as set forth by the place I'm having it. Can you believe I have never taken a laxative until now? Had to start three nights of those on Sunday. I'm hoping they make things pass easier on Wed night/Thursday morn! Lovely breakfast talk, eh. While I was so taken aback, and appreciate everyone's responses - this is already scheduled and if I don't go through with it, never will have one - so making the best of it, and whining all the way!

We had a heat wave here - nothing like the SW, but when it ended, it did so big time - was in the upper 40's when I got up yesterday, and 47 again this morning. Brrrr. Rainy all day both yesterday and today, also - stormed both nights, so Peaches at some point was curled around my head. Luckily my body is used to her doing that and just immediately turns to that the fur isn't in my mouth and nose. But with her on my pillow, some finds it's way and I wake up sputtering lol.

I've shortened some hours at the store - so I'm doing more regular shifts as we don't need as many people any more. How fast the busy season comes ... Then the very short, super-busy Sturgis, then wham ... over. I think a lot of people think all of August is not safe - they don't realize that Sturgis starts early, ends early - and ENDS. Then because families are planning for back-to-school, we lose lots of them. So for lots of you - coming to the Black Hills in August (any time starting with the end of Sturgis) should be a great time ... weather still nice, every place still open .. Yep, places will start shortening hours, closing very soon. Then as the families clear out of Yellowstone and Glacier - those places are more readily available - and before the temps start dropping! Just a suggestion.

I'd have stolen that piece of apple pie in a heart beat - but following the restrictions ... so it's still available.

Carol - so glad Bill feels so much better - and we all know the heat will end, eventually. For this summer. We hope!

Good morning, I feel so sorry for everyone who is in the heat wave!! I can't imagine going outside !! It does seem that customer service is disappearing. I wonder if it has anything to do with the report just out that said the level of compassion in people has dropped by something like half, I can't remember the exact numbers. There seems to be a survey for everything.

Queen the reason no one has cilantro is because of the recall. I know what you mean about low stock I don't know when it started but I've noticed it recently especially on the rare occasion I venture to a grocery store besides our local Coop. DH does the shopping thank goodness1 I dislike shopping for groceries and he seems to enjoy it. Kathy apple pie for breakfast sounds good, sigh...I just can't start my day with sweets or the body rebels.

I'm off tho the post office before it gets any warmer, cool front hopefully tomorrow, I'm embarrassed to say it's too hot here, I imagine a high of ninety sounds cool to a lot of you.

How can I be camped on the ocean and there be no breeze????

Actually I am dry camping at a Freeport, ME, campground that is on a bay, but still on the ocean and of course, since I can use my generator only a very limited number of hours per day, it is hot and muggy with not even a tiny breeze. Nice view, but had to dig out my very thin nightie for last night. Only high today of 84, but you know what these tin cans are like. Anyway, got my AC running now for a couple of hours. My batteries do a good job of keeping my electronics charged, but my laptop only lasts so long and I have to stop and plug it in again. Had to make the screen brighter as the duller one for low power makes me feel like I am blind--just can't see anything. Also, keeping phone, jetpack, and kindle charged, so with only two 12 v plugs, have to keep moving things around.

I am going to try more dry camping, but it is really hard in this heat. Need to pick cooler times and places, I think. Plus I just do not do as well in the heat as I did when I was younger.

When I have to turn AC off, I will go into town to LL Bean and do some walking around and shopping. Going to pick up a lobster or two for dinner also!!!

Also, note that I have been adding new states to my map.

I have had at least 6 colonoscopes and the instructions and what you drink changes every time. Five of them have been with the same doctor. I have never had to start watching my diet that far in advance but I usually start a day before they say. I want to be sure everything is clean and they don't miss anything. My dad and grandmother died from colon cancer. If they find a polyp they can tell if it is the pre-cancer kind. Of course I have the pre-cancer kind. My sister has the other ones and we can't talk my brother into going for a test. He is such a sissy.

It's raining this morning and 83. Better than 100. I don't know how people live in Las Vegas with that heat. Harold called from Walmart and all I could think we needed was milk. We are almost out of bread. I had to call for an extension on the building permit for the trailer so I will probably have to go to town later anyway.

There is a depression in the Atlantic and it could be a tropical storm by Sunday. I sure hope we don't have to evacuate. At least since we moved the trailer we have a place to move all the stuff to. I just wouldn't stay in a mobil home during the storm.

I never did eat breakfast so pie sounds good to me. Since it's almost noon I have to decide whether to eat breakfast or lunch. Decisions, Decisions! lol

since it's usually night when I get on I rarely post any thing but do read and something someone said I wanted to reply to now darn if I
can remember...
probably about the heat was listening the weather out of NY (get the coast locals both coast) and they had a doctor that was saying
that the humidity is actually the worst thing they are suffering from a heat wave had to laugh has SLC in the summer is normally in the high
90's or higher and it's not a heat wave...we've had it into the 90's here...but think it is the humidity that creates the problem...Los Vegas has no
or little humidity and although it's hot normally into the high 100 as is AZ it's more doable than the 98 with 95 % asked a friend down in Q that is there
year round how do you do it? she says you get used to it out and about early and late mid day (from 10 to 9:00) you stay inside and enjoy AC
you all have a great day

Sheila, totally agree with that. And on the news this week they talked about the record highs out west then commented that if the east hit the highs being called for it was going to be more dangerous with the high humidity levels. I can handle the highs much better out west. Doesn't mean I want a string like they've had, but I can deal with it.
