Saturday early!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday early!

Postby carolb » Sat Aug 15, 2015 4:18 am

Gmorning all :)

Finally, awake by 4 a.m.! I know just a few of you will understand how wonderful this is for me--not waking til 6 or 7, I feel half the day is gone  But this is my "quiet time," when I do want to be online, talking to my friends/family.

Ava/Honey, so happy to hear you are cancer-free! Sorry about Jon's dad, though--glad you had time to spend with him over the past year...Anita, I hear you about "if it's not one thing,.." Little by little, I've been taking care of "things" on HB all summer. Still don't know what I'll do about the gen. My thoughts are to just let it go, since I rarely use it anyway...

I'm home, finished with cat-sitting, camping in cousin's driveway. An amazing 12 days, & still got so much done at her place & mine! Oh, & Anita, I'm questioning my "plan" to meet her in Vegas at the beginning of Nov, so I'll keep you posted about possibly meeting up with you to explore TX :)

We're getting RAIN! And warmer temps, so Sue, I'll be doing the same "natural" house cooling procedure as you! It's been mostly a cooler summer, so I never bothered to put in my window unit a/c. I figure if there's a night that's too hot for sleeping, I'll just plug in HB & sleep in a/c!

Y'all have a great day, & as always, be safe!

Good morning!

Cool sounds kinda nice, it's pretty hot here.

Heading to the patio store today, we're picking out a nice small set of table and chairs for the patio, I want to be able to sit outside and enjoy my coffee in the mornings.

Good morning!!!

So happy the cancer is all gone, Ava - hope you're able to stay cool with the extreme heat out there.
Carolb, my gen won't start at the moment either - called 2 places - they can't get it in to look at it until late Sept. Guess I'll decide what to do with it when I get to CA. The only time I've needed it was on trips out west when I want to take a break during the day & stay cool.

Only 13 more days in the office before I head to CA & work off-site. New director is great! I was too involved in the nitty-gritty, he is able to function on a much higher level. Tremendous relief not being responsible for the org's entire computer infrastructure anymore. :D

Starting to decide what to take. Signed the apt lease last night. My apartment looks over some trees & green space - looking forward to an LA winter with my sweet grandbaby. Hope work is ok with me being there a while.   Can't wait to get there & start my new adventure!

Well, I need to get moving - lots to do, too little time...
Enjoy your travels & stay cool & safe :)

Well… Good Morning! I’m trying to get all my weekend stuff done before early afternoon so I can take off to see mom. When my sister called last Friday and said that mom had decided to go to the nursing home I didn’t think it was going to be in a couple days but she moved in on Monday. So far things are going good. I think it’s my sister who is having trouble adjusting to being by herself! So I’m going to go and see mom and spend the night with Mary Ann. I am so glad that mom made this decision herself and we didn’t have to make the call or have a doctor do it for us.

Missy’s daughter’s wedding was beautiful. It was an outdoor wedding and weather cooperated! As I predicted DH and I didn’t stay for the dance but opted to bring Bronc home. There were umpteen hundred little ones running around and he had had a hay day in the bounce house and the huge sand pile that was available. Those little legs had trouble keeping up with some of the older children and he was one pooped pilgrim. Brought him home and gave him a bath and had him in bed by 9:30 and he slept until almost 10 Sunday morning. Our next project is getting Faye’s daughter married in October. Have a shower on September 13 and then we have to make the bridesmaids bouquets and the boutonnieres for the groomsmen and ushers. We always have fun when we get together to do arrangements, etc. I finished printing the invitations for the shower Thursday night and now they’re in Faye’s hands for addresses. About all that’s left for me on that is helping decorate and making a salad for the buffet.

We finally have reservations to go camping! First time this summer. Going to with a group of friends and we’re supposed to pull down to the Springfield campground on September 1 and stay until Labor Day. We probably won’t make it until the 2nd because the last weekend in August is our girl’s weekend at Buffalo Ridge. I might need more than one night to get the camper loaded. Especially since I’ll be going to work while we’re there and have to plan around that.

Well if I’m going to get everything done that I plan to do this morning I’d better get crackin’. Have a fantastic week…..safe travels and good health. Ava...so glad that the cancer is gone!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Sorry, Carolb, but I and other night people just can never understand why someone would voluntarily get up that early. :o

My quiet time is late at night, and I don't even begin to get sleepy until midnight. I even used to do a lot of my housework at night! But glad there are some people who like to get up to keep things running for the rest of us on the night shift.

I'm in Franconia, NH, and getting ready to go out exploring. My right trigger thumb and left trigger finger were really bothering me last night, so I am going to try to get an appointment with an orthopedic doctor for next week when I will be near Freeport, ME. I need cortisone shots and those can't be done at urgent care. Might try emergency room if I can't get appointment but it looks like Freeport area has several orthopedic doctors. I have an appointment on Oct 7 in Ohio, but could not get in any earlier and am reaching the point where it is just too painful to wait. I really need to get surgery when I get to Napa, CA, in December.

Exciting news that ten years after her husband died, one of my best friends has connected with the boyfriend she had when she was 14! She has been horribly depressed the last few years, so it is nice to see her happy. And she is moving to Florida to be near her daughter and grandkids. Don't know if old-new friend will be going there as well, but my guess he will be spending time there, don't you think??

good morning ladies
such a strange week, I'd actually like to say horrible but thats such a strong word and it wasn't all horrible, just yesterday!
We broke a heat record, 117 and I just don't understand why they don't call no school days when we have these excessive
heat warnings. The ac can't keep up in this type of heat. Its a good thing I got home when I did too cause my circuit breaker
had just tripped on the ac, low power in the park with everyone trying to keep cool. It was still chilled inside so I know it
had just happened. I've been to the store already this morning, got all my weekend supplies and we won't be opening the
door until monday,,,,,,not really, but almost, cause Maggie will need to get out to poddy.
I think this will be a good day to scrub the walls and ceiling in my bedroom, that ac vent blows right down on the bed and it will keep me nice and cool while I get something accomplished. Other than that plan, I've got nothing for ya. Ya'll have a
great day, be safe and stay hydrated.
Somewhere with Ava and Maggie

Cool weather sounds like a lost dream. I have heard of it, but can't quite remember what it was like.

The temperatures for most of this summer have been mostly hellish.

100 degrees, day after day after day, most of the time. Although it has "only" been in the mid-90's this past week, tomorrow (Sunday, August 16) is predicted to be 105. Again. And dry dry dry. No appreciable rain since January. It would be no surprise if the foothills just to east exploded in fire. As is already happening in Lake County, to the southwest of me.

And I just heard on the news that a [quote] "Godzilla" El Nino is predicted for this winter for the west coast. With [quote] "100 year rainstorms". The central valley area I have lived in for the past five years or so is prone to flooding (near the confluence of the Yuba and Feather rivers), and has had major floods about every 10 - 15 years or so. Last one about 15 years ago. A woman who retired from my office a few years back experienced the major flood that happened here in the 50's. Her brother went out to help a friend stranded by the flood waters and was never seen again.

You just can't win. I think maybe I need to move somewhere else. But where? Suggestions appreciated!

I used to be a night owl like Judy - rarely went to bed before midnight. These days I don't seem to sleep so much - 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hours seems to be enough (when I was young it was 10!). So I go to bed at about 11:00 and get up about 5:30. So I get my "quiet time" at both ends!

Glad Ava had a good outcome; hope Carol has found a good place in LA. I grew up in the LA suburbs (North Hollywood and later Granada Hills) and if I ever had to go back there to live I would just rather die instead. I have lived in northern California north of Sacramento for the past 35 years.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning!

Busy day on here!

Carolb, excited that we have a possibility. My current plan is to be in the Birmingham area the end of October and move on from there. Carolb knows I am a night owl!

Catherine, so glad things are falling into place for your California life! We'll see you in Quartzsite in January?? Pat, what fun having friends children wed and being a part of it. Time for a new picture of Bronc on here?? :) Ava, sorry about Jon's dad but also glad you had some good time with family. Sandi, I went through Albert Lea as well. I figure Tina passed about 40 miles from me.

Step nephew (31) who has been in and out of jail and rehab for years finally did himself in. Running from narcotic cops, he ran a stop sign, got broadsided and thank goodness the other driver is okay. Cops are saying they weren't chasing him, but there are witnesses saying otherwise. Small town. Just happens they are holding the Celebration of Life next month and have decided to do it while I am home for class reunion. My brother was a trouble maker for a long time and this kid made my brother look like a saint. This was not a kid who didn't have family support - my brother put up with more than I ever would have.

LeRoy has covered the air hoses on my SS trailer so hopefully no more punctures. While under there, he discovered more poor wiring so he is tackling that this morning. I am his 'gofer' which is about all I can do. I helped him in the garden yesterday and you should have seen the veggies we had with our salmon last night! After Kansas weather, I was hoping for a bit better up here, but the heat and humidity have followed me!

Hope you all have a great weekend and safe travels!

Well, guess I will chime in before morning is over here. Carolb, nice to see you opening coffee. And yes, I know that early morning rsing thing, although not quite that early My furry alarm usually comes alive around 6 or os. I like the mornings too as it sure does make the day longer. Time for doing things or if you are traveling, sightseeing and on the road before traffic gets horrible. Sounds like you are getting your winter plans lines up

Pat, maybe you should go into the wedding planner business, hahahah. Catherine, I can feel the excitement in your getting ready to make the big move. Should be fun being able to be right there spoiling the new grandbaby. Ava, I think they should cancel school too in that heat. Not good for anybody. Geez, what happens when a bus breaks down out there. They get hot awful fast. Doesn't matter is it's disabled students or regular students, same issue.

Annie, how about Michigan. Granted we can have some cold snowy winters, but our spring, summers and fall are great. I think we have had the best summer weather in the country this year. Right now we are having some hot weather, upper 80's, low 90's, but short lived, maybe three or 4 days at most and nights are cooling into the low 60's and no humidity. Up here at least. I haven't bothered to put my winow A/C in either. Don't remember is I did last year or not But I sure won't trade living here for anyplace in the U.S.

Heading out to visit some friends in about an hour here, so guess I had better get myself some lunch and then hit the road. Have a bout a half hour drive to their place Guess I will take Molly along to get her out of the house. They always ant to see her anyway. They have a passle of cats, who just make themselves disappear

Good Morning !!! A few minutes left, so will make this short. Just wanted to say hello and wish everyone a great week end. Break time here, have managed to accomplish several chores here already and now going into make banana bread and make up some of batter into muffins, I like them better for me, that way I don't have to worry about eating the whole loaf of bread by myself. :o Will freeze the loaf, it might make it to Indiana GTG , if my company and I, don't clean it up before then :)

Weather here has been so much better then what I would have encountered out west if I had continued my trip, that I am happy that conditions came up that made me decide to just come back home. It was a great decision. The temps here have not been bad, I think, in these mountains. Mid day don't want to work out in it, but Maggie and I, do a nice walk out back and we're ok. A/C doesn't come on much, I have house opened up in mornings and about 3 when it might come on, close door and it just stays cool in here. Thunder and lightening type weather with rain has only happened a couple of times and so far no hail here although was predicted and some place I'm sure got it. So all in all, I think , this is a good place for summer :D

Need to go get those muffins going and make lunch and its getting to the time of day, my steam usually starts slowing down. I love early morning, get up when I wake, body alarm goes off 6 or so, but also stay up way too late some nights so the morning is not that early, but early enough, usually means a short nap in afternoon. 4 hrs or so sleep is not enough too many nights running, with the list of things I must do here.

Many with happy news, Ava, Catherine and Pat, good idea about the wedding planning . I remember years back a friend and I, were really into that too, for my kids , her kids and friends kids. I'm not around for the younger generation, and that's ok.

Ok, have a good one, but be aware and Stay safe !!
CArol :)
Anita, if I knew dates you'd be in Al. and it was convenient , maybe some of us could have a GTG, if your time allowed. Keep us posted as to dates, if you're interested and have the time in that area.

Not mornin' anymore, but it is somewhere right??? Didn't want to stoke the campfire because it's hot & humid here in Chitown.

Great news Ava! And hoping for you that is the last of it. Pat sounds like Bronc is just growing way too fast. And Catherine almost on her way to the GB soon. Sorry about the trigger finger problems Judy, is there nothing that can be a permanent fix?

My little (?) buddy Zorro was feeling pretty peppy last night. Playing with a toy, playing hide & seek, etc. He never plays! Unfortunately it was right before bedtime & he then was all wired up & wouldn't go to sleep.

Anne, I don't think there is any really safe place in the states. Hurricanes south & on east coast (plus nor'easters), tornadoes in the midwest, which for the last few years seem to be popping up in Colorado too, heat in the southwest (dry heat? so they say) and the west coast with earthquakes & fires. So that leaves Alaska (snow, bears, etc) and Hawaii (you could only camp in circles). So your call for where to go :?

Dentist today, and to Dad's, then to Ma's and then home. I did my good daughter duties today. Drove past Kathy's on the way home, looked like she had a full house for her yearly BBQ.

Planned some camping for Thanksgiving week (another regularly scheduled vaycay). Fingers crossed there is no snow, but hopefully I'll learn heater, etc at the ShipShe gtg.

Well that's all for today. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Stay safe on the roads.
