Thought Lori Would Be Making Breakfast...

Mornin' Ladies ~

Sure thought Lori would be back to making her famous breakfast today now that she's back in PA. I'll put the coffee on and see if she's got something cookin'.

Weather looks like it may actually be back to more Spring like temp. yea!

Alice, loved the pic of Maggie & the cats. Maggie is bigger than I thought. She's a cutie. Hoping Sue, Donna & the other ladies on the road get to check in to tell us of their exploits. Pat nice place you & your friends are going to.

Not much else. Have a good day everyone and if you're on the road, stay safe.

Looks like everyone is sleeping in or already on the road.

I have the day off to finish getting ready for my trip tomorrow. Looks like it will be pretty wet all thru the rest of the week and thru the weekend. If I was tenting it, I would probably cancel. Hopefully, it will just be rain and not nasty storms. Gotta find my rain suit today.

Got lots to do today yet so better get busy here. Hope you all have a good day! :D

I have had way too much coffee this morning. Taking it easy this morning after taking Harold on a trip yesterday. He wanted to go to the high school cutting in Lake Charles. High school rodeo sure has changed since I was in high school. Back then it was done on a shoe string budget, at least for me and my friends. Today it is Class A motorhomes and living quarter horse trailers for a lot of people. I only saw one two horse bumper pull trailer. I bet we only knew about 10 people in the arena. At one time we would have known almost everyone.

Harold wanted to stop at the Factory Outlet store on the way home. I don't know how that place is still hanging on. There are only just a few stores open. Of course they didn't have the jeans or shirts he wanted. He only wears long sleeve shirts and this is summer. There were a few plaid western shirts but he won't wear shirts with snaps or plaids. He told his mother one time that he is allergic to plaid. lol

Barbie, hope you miss the rain on your trip. We are suppose to have a week of drier weather but the temperatures are going into the 90's.

good morning ladies
just relaxing most of the time, although its been a daily struggle working on the pool here to get it up and going properly.
The pool has sat for years and now its one thing after another on it but we're almost there. His sister and family leave for
Vegas today to attend the wedding and by the time they get back the pool should be sparkling. Maggie has gotten really
comfortable with the strangers in her life so all is going well there too. Mowed and cleaned the back yard yesterday and things are really starting to shape up around here. Went shopping yesterday for myself, it was a "me time" moment so off to Kmart
I went. Haven't seen a kmart in years.
Thats about it from the west coast, ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Oh Martha! I know what you mean about the money at high school rodeos! The first time I went to one of Ryan's HS rodeos I was in shock! Dennis couldn't go along because he was in the field so I drove the 100 miles by my lonesome. You know it never bothered me to drive that far to watch him play a football game because I knew I was going to watch 48 minutes of play, but I had trouble with that drive to watch him for a hopeful 8 seconds on a bull! I tooled into the rodeo grounds in my little Mercury Tracer station wagon and immediately knew I was out of my element. You're right...there were no one horse pull type trailers. All of them were 5th wheels that carried four horses and most had living quarters and all the pick-ups seemed to be brand new duallys! Several families must have driven an RV plus a pick-up and trailer. While I was sitting in the bleachers alone it dawned on me from the way they were visiting that all the people around me knew each other. And while I don't wear western clothes I know quality when I see it and there were a lot of really expensive boots and clothes around me. I looked like the proverbial turd in the punch bowl wearing Reeboks and a sweatshirt! Then I heard a lady talking about the "steal" they had gotten on their daughter's barrel racing horse for only $16,000. All I could think is "holy crap...that's more than my car cost!" By the time I left that day and as much as I hated Ryan riding bulls, I was very glad that he could throw his gear in the pick-up and take off without a horse and a trailer!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

That's funny Pat - a turd in a punch bowl. In high school I had a $100 horse that I bought as a yearling and trained myself. I had to buy my saddle on time $10 a month I made by boarding a horse for a friend. I exercised horses and cleaned stalls to pay for my horse's feed and shoes. We had a neighbor that liked to ride in the grand entry at rodeos so he would bring his horse, my horse and two of my friends horses. We would make 2 of the horses jump in the back of the old Studebaker truck with wooden rails and then hitch a trailer for the other two. If these horses had been worth a lot of money we would have probably killed them. There would be the 4 of us riding in the one seat cab. Good thing 3 of us only weighed about 100 pounds each. My dad was never involved in anything we did and my mother didn't realize how dangerous some of the things we did were.

Things have gotten so crazy expensive that I don't know if I could bring myself to buy a pair of the fancy boots that are from $350 to $600. Harold is talking about downsizing to a 2 horse trailer. I think he should get one with living quarters so I could camp in it. I'm sure that's going to fly.

Martha and Pat, this is a funny topic! I remember some years ago when all of us had small used trailers one gal bought an expensive living quarters trailer-a really big one. Thing was too big to get into or to turn around in the parking lot where we all left our rigs while trail riding! So she had to go out and buy a smaller one to use for "everyday" riding!

Spent the day getting packed up and ready to go. It clouded up and got darker out so decided to get the camper hitched up before the storms rolled in. Was having issues getting the hitch hooked up. Luckily, our apt maintenance guy came by and realized the ball was on the hitch wrong (my bad!) so he fixed it and we got the camper hitched just as it started to rain. He tightened everything up for me too. So now I am good to go!

Looks like the weekend won't be a total washout like was predicted earlier. Should be in mid 70's with partly cloudy skies. That makes me much happier! Had a heck of a thunder storm today with heavy rain but cleared up in time for a nice sunset.

Am taking my Nook with me, so if I can find some wifi, I will pop in occasionally and let you all know how things are going.

Gmorning all :)

I do miss Lori's breakfasts! Go Barbie! Looking forward to hearing all about your maiden voyage, so hope you can find some cyber space while you're off to the real world ;) Martha, how is Hank doing? Such a sweet pooper...Ava, glad you & Maggie are enjoying your working vacation

Bro was here yesterday & we got the garden tilled & tomato & pepper plants planted. I'll throw in some seeds today for a few other veggies, but we've gone smaller this year--no canning this fall! And less work for me this summer, so I plan to take more short trips here in the Northeast.

Beautiful here this a.m., so out to the garden I go! Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Carolb, Hank is doing good. He misses having company. I'm sure you are happy to scale back the garden so you can travel more. I use to have the urge to garden every spring but thank goodness that passed. I got my one orange tree through the winter but it still looks sad. Home Depot had blueberry bushes the last time I was there. I talked myself out of buying any. I planted 3 several years ago and they all died. I have to worry about them all winter and Harold mowing them in the summer. Summer temperatures are getting here so don't know how many times I will make it out.
