I was going to send this privately to Judy, but decided others may benefit.
When I was 40, I had endured years of sinus infections and illness, on antibiotics at least twice to three times a year. Another "cold" at age 40 and I awoke in middle of the night short of breath and wheezing. Off to allergy Dr the next morning. He tested and said you have asthma. I said I've not had it before, and he said, you do now. Speed ahead to age 65, winter of 2013/14. I got sick in December and remained coughing and having to use steroid inhaler and ventolin daily. By this time I count 25 years as an asthmatic and most of the time on steroid inhalers and ventolin daily. I was so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Mel was having hyperbaric treatment daily and I needed to wait for an appointment with my long ago allergist. But I was so fed up with constant cough and tightness. I went online , out of desperation, and typed in "how I cured my asthma". Where I came up with that, no clue. I found this site:
http://jdmoyer.com/2010/07/17/how-i-cur ... le-change/I read the whole page several times. I sifted through and decided I had nothing to lose so picked two supplements to try off his list of stuff he had tried. I chose Evening Primrose capsules and MSM tablets. Went to a local health food store picked up both and began taking them. At first I did not feel much of anything, but I persisted. Went to the allergist and he set me up for breathing testing. By the time I tested I had been on Evening Primrose and MSM for about 4 weeks. After testing the Dr saw me and said, you don't have asthma, your lungs have normal capacity, then he said, stop the steroid inhaler and only use ventolin as needed. I was scared, what if my breathing gets much worse. He agreed to test me again after a week off meds. I went home and that night did not take inhaler, nor the rest of the weekend. Much to my surprise, nothing dire happened. I was still coughing some from the Dec cold, but my breathing was fine. It's now been a year. My Peak Flow has tested much of the time higher than in decades. I use ventolin once in a while if a little tight. PF of 350 used to be good, now I have tested over 500 somedays. I have continued the Evening Primrose and MSM and have not had a cold in a year, possible because my lungs no longer grab every bug that wanders by. Is my solution , your solution? Maybe not, but I encourage anyone with asthma to explore options and don't take for granted that you can not be better than you are now.
