It's more a strainer than a filter...and no, not all water pumps have them. It's pretty obvious if you have one, it's clear plastic. Just turn off the pump and unscrew the top. Clean and replace.[/quote]

Thanks for saying that not all pumps have them!
I looked and looked and looked...didn't see anything that looked like the Google images.
Had to tear apart my neat and clean little trailer to look.

Glad everyone is safe.

Have no idea if I have the filter thingie - luckily have never (knocking on wood) had trouble with my water pump. Replaced my water heater this week, though. Ah, must admit, it was less to replace than the one in my house when it went. Shouldn't say how long it's had a leak - but it got worse lol ... and instead of dripping to outside, it decided to saturate INSIDE - totally not acceptable. Fixed and all is good. Well, I still have to put some of the "walls" back - left them out so I could keep a fan running to make sure everything is completely dried out (wet wood takes awhile).

Judy, too bad you didn't respond to those of us meeting for dinner tonight - we're doing so just 1/2 an hour from SF. Would have loved to have you join us. Still time if you see this right away - we're meeting at 5 in Livermore!
