Good morning everyone, sitting here listening to the crickets and Alexis' tail tapping the table. A lot going on this weekend, yard work today, might be the only dry day and tomorrow, I hope is dry as well so I can get some new pics of the pups seeking a forever home at the rescue place I volunteer at. Anyone seeking a canine companion? We have the little chihuahua, Mickey Mouse, to the American bulldog, Tango, along with everything in between.

Good Morning... the sun will soon be up and we will have 80 degrees... oh what a wonderful part time job working in a dog rescue... I have a dear friend that volunteers in the winter at a greyhound rescue...
I left the fan in the window last night so here I sit with a blanket on my lap... did not sleep much again last night... glad Shadow does not mind getting up 40 times in the night with me... lol
Oatmeal and blueberries and coffee are sitting by me as I type...
Yes the gtg's are in full swing... summer is fast fading...

I volunteer there once a week to help walk dogs while their kennels, or suites, are being cleaned. Occasionally help with the adoption events and now I have a team to meet once a month for pictures. So many people do not go to shelters but look on line for their new best friend, so good pictures are important, especially since this is a true no kill shelter. Some places will say no kill, but after a time limit, they will bring them to a kill shelter. I didn't know that til I started volunteering.

Adopting a dog actually saves two, the one you adopted and the one that goes in its spot.

Good morning BayouLady, Kathleen & everyone!

It's been chilly in MD the past couple mornings but we're supposed to get to 80 later this afternoon. This is so unusual for the weather to be so cool in August, so I'm looking forward to the warmer temperatures to come back next week.

The grass here is still growing like mad, so Steve has been cutting the grass twice a week to keep it looking decent. Usually this time of the year we're going through the drought season and the grass is dying off. But between the heavy dews and rain, the grass is still very green and needs to be cut.

Mom had her last radiation treatment yesterday! Yay!!! My sister is home from the hospital after an almost three week stay. Another yay!!! I've been spending lots of time with my parents taking care of them and also try to spend one night a week with them, as they feel more comfortable having someone in the house overnight. If everything works out, we still plan on spending the winter in FL.

I'm enjoying following those on the road and hope everyone traveling is safe. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

Top of the Morning, all!!!

Ernie gets to escape the "recovery camper" this morning, by going golfing with a friend....and I get to spend time with the friend's "better half" while they are gone...time for chatting and getting caught up on the news and the gossip of other camping "snowbirds" we know....

Woke up to 45F temp....burrrrr....yes, I do believe the summer is leaving us early....but really hardly any summer at all this year....between the rain and the cool temps....Ernie's building a campfire before leaving to golf for Cindy & me....so we should be toasty while we drink coffee, eat donuts, and chat....

Wow Irmi what good news... so very glad Ursi is home from the hospital and your mom had her last treatment... those have to be hard on her... thanks for the update...

I am going to call my vet Small Animal Rescue it is suppose to be a no kill shelter... but I want to know...

Irmi! That is such GREAT news! I know you've been through the wringer with both your mom & sister's health issues. Now, can you relax??? Lori, sounds like Ernie gets a "relaxing" day, too, while you visit with your friend...

I'm helping sis with projects, & we should be finished today. The time is just flying by, but I still have a couple gtgs ahead of me! Donna, what do you think about the 27th for an overnight? Maybe a visit to Lori??? Lori, you up for that??? We still have a week to figure it out!

Louise, how fun to have sis back home! Are you traveling north to gtg? CArol & Sarah, did you make it to MI????

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

My computer is back, but now we have no house phone nor internet connection here. The Verizon repair truck is here and out on the road looking for the problem. I am on my wimi, or whatever it's called in the meantime. I forgot how much you lose when you get your computer overhauled....like having to re-join and re connect to all groups and websites----good thing I have all my passwords written down! It cost me just under 125 bucks to have the harddrive checked and all the programs re-installed. He was really wonderful to at least get all my favorites transferred back on here, too. He also re-installed my docs and pics for me.

I have way too many posts to get caught up on, and my "o" on this keyboard is giving me some troubles. I sure hope that clears up with some useage. I will try to stay in touch better now, and hope to be able to get some Ruckus pics (what few I took) into Photobucket and then on here somewhere.

Today is sunny and nice and warm, and supposed to stay that way for a few days now. Dump run this morning, then some Ruckus cleanup and putting away of things for another year. Tomorrow Richard and I will go to the big Picnic Day in Redford to hear another two hours of Roy Hurd play live, check out the farmers' goods, and try to avoid spending any mola at the tons of booths destined to be there. Unfortunately, he has to leave for home back in VT to get some bills paid and his truck inspected. I will meet up with him again in a couple of weeks in Bridgewater VT for a week-long bluegrass boondocking festival. I think Issy, my neighbor, will ride with me to that event.

Last night and the night before I was able to call the coytes right into the back yard, almost, despite our campfire and music by Richard. There is a really healthy pack on this property this year! I love to hear their blood-curdling howls, yips, and barks!

good morning ladies, another school week done with very few nerve wracking moments. The scheduler assigned another wheelchair
student on my bus, so now for elementary I have 3 chairs. My lift is very particular and sensitive. It struggles doing two and refused
to do the third one the other day. Its all in the computer and sensors on the bus. But we did manage to get it to operate after awhile.
I think the computer on my bus has alzheimers and forgets what its suppose to be doing Theres a safety strap across the top of
the lift and if its not connected really really tight, the sensor won't let the lift operate. Its kind of like a seat belt strap. That sensor
is going bad and they have one on order. Thursday afternoon my ac decided it was getting empty of freon and started blowing hot
air out of two of the vents. Friday they did a recharge on it so we were good on Friday afternoon, thank goodness cause it was
extremely hot and some of my students are temperature fragile. Lots of other things on my mind lately, I will post in a seperate
post.
A few gtg's in the works? and Lori recuperating and getting to catch up with friends, fabulous.
Today is the regular laundry day and trip to the grocery store. George the bird was suppose to go home last night but she didn't show
up. He's no trouble though and not a noisy bird so its not really an issue. I guess she'll show up for him soon.

Good Morning all, well, more into afternoon but just a couple of minutes. This little piggy was up and out early this morning so she could head to market. Saturday is one of our farmer's market days and this time of year, there is a lot of fresh home grown stuff. So I picked up some fresh sweet corn for the GTG as well as some fresh tomatoes and a jar of homemade wild blueberry jam for the GTG. Also got some fresh peaches for me. I'm planning on taking over my little BBQ grill to cook hambrgers for dinner tomorrow along with having the corn and some sliced tomato for the burgers. Also got some home baked banana walmut bread too. So there are a few things in the pot for the GTG.

I see that Tina might come rolling up too. That would be wonderful.

I have to make some changes here regarding my TT. It's back over to the dealers for resell. The Flex cannot handle towing it. The hitching system is fine, but the suspension of the Flex is not designed to handle that type of towing and the WD system actually makes it take some of the weight off the tires. I an very nervous pulling the TT with the Flex feeling like it's not completely surefooted on the pavement and even having an occasional rear wheel slip. The chains on the bars cannot be changed anymore or they will be dragging on the ground. Even pulling it over to the dealers yesterday, the Flex felt like it was being wind blown every time a car passed on the highway. The TT was fine. I also talked with the Ford dealer and the only way I can cancel out the lease if to pay up what I owe for the remainder of the lease, which is another 20 months. Nuts to that. Ford has a program whereby you can sometimes turn a leased vehicle in early, anywhere from a year to 6 months ahead, but right now that is not in effect either. So nuts to the whole thing. I will probably get my money back on theTT minus the sales taxs of course and they don't think it will be there long as that model is in demand and they are currently sold out, so I am not competing against their stock. So I shall wait patiently and let things fall as they may. There is no way that I can afford to make payments to buy another vehicle at this time either. Something will fall in my lap eventually.

Irmi, so glad to hear that your mom is done with radiation and your sister is out of the hospital. Things are looking up a bit better for you. Soos, you have your computer back, Great! Kathleen, what's with not sleeping. Too bad you can't just jump in your car and head up here, I have an extra room. Carolb, yes CArol and Sarah are in MI. Sorry ou didn't have the time to jon us up here. The weather is going to be perfect.

Well, lunch time here for Sassy and I. She has really developed a taste for tuna fish, so I open a can for her and make some for me as well. Have a wonderful day all. See you GTG gals tomorrow.

Having been involved in shelters for most of my adult life, I'll r being called no kill doesn't mean everything it's cracked up to be. And being a true no kill means they often won't take in dogs or animals others will. So don't go by the words but by the actions. Any shelter that will only keep an animal a certain amount of time, bad. True no kill good for the animals they receive, but yoshelteru can rest assured in most cases they are very picky about who they accept, therefore if you try to take then an aggressive dog or older dog, they won't accept it. If those dogs end up at a kill shelter, they can still say they are no kill, but in my mind they killed those animals.

I have been lucky to be involved with two breed rescues, both of which take in old and even ill dogs and spend the money to do right by them. Even the Goldens with cancer than can't be cured get a foster home to spend their last weeks or months loved. Th English Cocker rescue group does the same thing.

The humane society I was with was not considered a no kill shelter - but never ever put a dog or cat (or any other accepted animal) down due to age. If the pet was considered adoptable, it was kept until it was adopted. I often brought senior dogs home for a few days at a time to keep them socialized when in the shelter longer periods of time. We took in lots of dogs and cats that were turned away from the "no-kill" shelter - and found them homes. Almost all senior animals were turned down.

Tina the rescue groups are (almost all) awesome. One of them in your home state sent our humane society several dogs a few times when they had too many - we worked with many of them.
