Thirsty Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thirsty Thursday

Postby Redwahine » Thu Mar 14, 2013 5:36 am

Good morning all! Did not sleep well or very much. I kept having cramps in my calves. Gotta get some potassium supplements. Eating bananas is not doing it. Probably need to drink more water. It is currently 43 outside, but will get up to a beautiful 75 :P

For the first time ever, I broke my cell phone. My phones have lasted forever...until they were obsolete. I have been teased often for my antiquated phones. However, my Android EVO 4g was only 3 yrs old. Yesterday I was searching all of RED's outside bins to find the lost charger for DHs mobility scooter. My phone was in my pocket and it slipped out and hit the driveway face down. Shattered the glass touchscreen. Yes, I wanted an iPhone, however wanted to do it when I had time and didn't have to go through restoring my contacts and data. However, I now have an iPhone 5 and learning how to use it, get apps and sync with my other Apple devices. :P

My other tech problem is with RED. Before RED we had the Carryout satellite dish with the simple non HDTV receiver. Well RED is too darn fancy for me. :( To make a really long process of being on the phone with techs from RV dealers, direct TV, etc. short. The TVs and entertainment system in RED requires a HD receiver to be able to use the satellite dish already installed on the roof with the entertainment system. So I have to get a new receiver and of course Direct TV is going to charge more for the monthly fee. And now my Carryout won't work cuz the Carryout is not HD. I don't even watch much TV. But DH likes it and gives him something to do when I want to go hiking, kayaking or out to lunch with a sista :P

Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

If you haven't already, you must go check out both Liz's and Tina's blog posts on Andersonville, GA Civil War Prison visit.....Both are well done....

Our plans for the day involve a trip to Bluffton, SC for the farmers market and lunch at the Oyster Factory's restaurant for lunch....can't wait to show Irmi & Steve that little town....

Okay, we all got coffee going here...help yourselves... ;)

Good Morning Red and all,

Red, I know all about the water thing. I've been drinking it like crazy since this gallbladder thing has been going on. Some days' I am really dry. Course the other side of the coin is that what goes in will eventually go out and I have been keeping the "throne" busy too

Sorry to hear about all your "tcheie" problems, but glad you are getting them straightened out. And now you have a new phone to play with. I keep my cell phone in a carry case that hooks on either my pain waistband or my belt and keeps it nice and secure. I never wnted to just carry it in my pocket like so many people do. A lot having to do with being at work in the park and all the types of pysical work we did, too risky for it to fall out out of a pocket or something. Actually a cell phone for me is just something i carry for an emergency. I rarely use it. Probably spend more time charging it than using it. Was laughing at my cousin cause I told told her that maybe I should get her cell number in casue I have an emergency and she's not home. She said hers is in her purse and she nevers turns it on. Just carreis it, like me, in case of emergency  Have a couple of friends downstate, same way.

Didn't post yesterday casue I wasn't having a good day. Felt really punky, had some sort of acid feeling in my abdomen and so forth. Gallbladder probably. Was late afternoon before I felt good. Am starting to feel my way through what i can eat and can't and the can't list is way longer. Mostly fruuits and veggies, chicken, wheat bread, fish etc. But no red meats. Did have a very lean port chop and that seemed to be okay. But yesterday I watched what I was eating and feel better this mornig.

It's a good thing too, as today I am going to the SS office. It's an hour's drive away from here. So wanted to make sure I am up to the drive. Think I should do fine. Too bad there's nobody aruond to go along, but that's okay. Actually I keep forgetting that we have a program here called "Seniors Helping Seniors" through our Commissin on Aging and if one needs help with something, they can make arrangements for that. Probably could have had somebody drive me over there, but.... Might need them later on.

But just wanted to stoop by and say hi. Need to play catch up here and see what's been going on. Ya' all have a wonderful day out there and with luck, next time I post, I should be an official "retiree"

Good morning Red, Lori and all that follow.

Red, knowing you, I am sure you will be more than able to figure it all out. You are so smart and can figure out anything. :) I have faith in you!

Lori, it sounds like you all are going to have a great day.

Sue, we were posting at the same time. Glad you are feeling better today. Feeling bad is certainly no fun. I cannot wait for you to officially be a "retiree". I still have a few years before I can say that.

We will be back in TX today. Woohoo! I have loved my travels, but am anxious to get back to my normal stomping grounds. It will be great to actually know where I am and what towns are around me. I cannot wait to get to OK and get settled for a while. I want to dig my machines out. I am having withdrawals. It's been almost a year since I worked with any of them. Drinking my second cup of coffee, then gotta get myself stowed to hit the road again. Just 2 more driving days.

Hope everyone has a great day today and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning everyone!

Red, sorry to hear about your phone & TV problems. People have teased us about our antiquated phones, too, and hope they never become obsolete. Not sure what we'll do if that happens.

Sue, sure hope you figure out what all the "nots" are so you don't have anymore gallbladder attacks. Has it been confirmed that that is what your problem is?

Dawn, I can't wait to hear that you're finally settled in your campground in OK. Be careful on the road.

Lori, we'll see you in an hour to begin a day of sightseeing with you & the Sultan.

Steve, Teddy & I made it to Hardeeville SC and are settled in our site. We'll be here for two weeks and then we'll keep an eye on the weather in MD to determine when we want to go home.

good morning ladies
its currently 57 right now and suppose to hit 90 today. Now that seems like odd weather, doesn't fit the pattern. But
then again, look at all the weird weather we had all over the US this year. We don't usually get 90 until May. Will have
to look up the ten day forecast and see what that looks like. Hoping its just a freak occurrence for today and maybe
the meteorologist is actually wrong!
Got lots of stuff done in my room yesterday, emptied out a couple of large tubs, gave those to son for his use and
replaced with smaller ones that are only half full, if that. The smaller ones will fit better in the rv. Never did get to the taxes, so maybe today. Will probably want a nap later though as I didn't sleep well last night. Neighbors had their radio on
too loud and it ran all night long. Music is not something that helps me sleep, makes me want to jump around and dance
Time to get dressed and get out in the world for a few errands. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good morning all!

Fun to hear of the gtg for Lori and Irmi--both great ladies and wish I could be there! Not sure I could handle two Sultans at once though LOL

Too hurried to get out my laptop this a.m., so making this short. On my way to visit aunt again today. Sis will go with me. All is well in sunny CA.

Y'all have great day! Happy travels!

Good Morning from Surprise, AZ,

Another day for baseball. My seat yesterday was first row by home plate! And weather in the 80s!! Looking forward to seeing friends at the ballpark today - they are part of a tour group I used to come down here with.

This is a day of concern - my nearly 14 yo GD is seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist today after months of issues and other doctors. My late DH had Crohn's disease and I am praying she doesn't have something similar.

Also, we are all shocked that my niece's hubby, a Marine Captain, has been given new orders - 3 years in Japan. With the military, one knows this can happen but for some reason they thought they were going to be sent to San Diego from Bremerton, Washington. With a 3 yo and baby due by the end of the month, my poor sister's heart is aching already. Japan is not somewhere you fly for the weekend!

Wishing everyone a good day and safe travels.

Afternoon here... am lazy again... story of my life...
Sue I had my gallbladder removed in the mid 90s... with it being gone I can eat what ever I want... before I could not tolerate anything fatty... still do not eat any of that as I was so used to avoiding such things...
Glad you, Steve and teddy got to SC safely... enjoy your visit...
Wow what a winter some have had...
Coffee, tea and oatmeal w/blueberries safely in my tummy...
Have a great day everyone

On trips I sometimes get cramps in my feet and calves from going up and down the steps on my motorhome. Red, that's probably what's causing your cramps. I know you have been making many trips in and out of RED. :) One time the only medicine I had with me was aspirin so took a couple. It seemed to help but might have been all in my head.

I don't know why men think they have to have HD TV. I can't tell the difference between my DH's tv picture and the one I watch except his costs about $30 more a month. He has the receiver that records and is always pushing the wrong button. If he records something he can't find it to watch it anyway and I have to regularly delete shows that he recorded by mistake.

I am one with an antique phone too. I had one of the big bag phones until they absolutely wouldn't work any more. My friends fussed all the time because they couldn't call me in the mall. The phone I used then I kept until they changed the systems again. I have already bought a new battery for the phone I have now when I could have gotten a free phone. The one I have has better reception than my son's fancy phones.

Sue, did you ever have the ultra sound of your gallbladder? I haven't had that problem before but my DH has. He had his removed. If that's your problem I would consider removing it . That's not something you want to have to do as an emergency surgery.

Don't have to go to town for a change. I feel like I have been almost everyday for a while. I needed to get some cat food yesterday when I was at walmart and forgot. Will have to make do with what I can find. There is probably some in my van if I dig deep enough.

Carolyn and I are going to the RV show in Lafayette this weekend. Hope I don't find something I can't live without.
