Friday--rabbits?

Ok, gotta get this "rabbit" thing clarified! Something to do the first day of EVERY month???? Well, I missed it! Enlighten me, Soos, I never heard of this tradition! :? Does ignorance exc-se me???? Oh well, good morning to all, even those who also missed it--hope everyone has a good month, anyway! Wow TX GTG in progress! I identify with not being able to identify y'all. My goal this weekend is to make a list of online names/real names, so I can remember who posts what. By the end of the GTG, y'all be great pals & be throwing away those name tags! Love the comment re a "non-member" who got the "food" thing! I've been told that's the life-line of the GTG's! Rain here today (left-overs from Sandy), off to school again, then the weekend to relax. Y'all have a great Friday, travel safely, & enjoy!

Good morning Carol & everyone!

What I would give to have been able to go to the GTG in Texas! They are always so much fun, but we'll be going to the GTG in FL and will meet some of the ones at the Texas GTG there. Lori & the Sultan also had a mini GTG in NM.

It's cold in NC this morning but we'll be getting into the high 50's later on with sunny skies. I learned yesterday that our house has electricity and that both refrigerators & freezer are working. My friend will be going back to the house today to see if we have water and then she's going to move our vehicles back to the driveway in front of the garage as the water has receded there. That way when we get home tomorrow, we can park the motorhome in the other driveway. Then the clean up begins. Another friend talked to some people that work for the county and showed them pictures of our house and the flooding problem. They have a work order to meet with us next week to see if anything can be done to fix the problem. Yay!!!

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Carolb, Irmi and all,

I keep forgetting the RABBITS! thing too. Saying it first thing in the morning, on the first day of the month, before you utter another word is supposed to bring good luck for that month. Soos I'm sure will be more than happy to give some background on it if she posts today.

Irmi, I'm so glad to hear that you apparently did not suffer quite the damage that you had with Irene and if all is as your friend says, you might not have to replace your appliances this time around. It would be great if the county could do something to help relieve this problem for you. Am glad to see that your are still enjoying NC. Maybe it's time to sell the S&B and just be on the road where and when you want to go. But I know you do have your parents to help too, so that plays a part too.

Am watching the news reports of the situations developing in NYC. Tempers flaring, no gas, people complaining of no assistance, more people being added to the death toll on Staten Island etc. Not good at all. So reminds me of some of those disaster movies that have been on TV over the years. And it's a bad time of the year too cause winter weather is moving in as well. My heart goes out to all of them.

Have also been wondering about Echo. I did read that Gatlinburg, TN had as much as three feet of snow and was wondering how she and Kelly fared in Pigeon Forge. Anybody heard from her? Hope she checks in.

We have a light dusting of snow in the grass here this morning. This fall is the first time in the past few years that we have had even snow mixed with rain aor light dustings of snow this early. It started back the first part of October and has been hitting and missing over the past month. Perhaps we are going to have an early winter. But then it can just as easily stop and we might not see any till late December. Time will tell and what will be will be.

Going to be glad when next week Tuesday comes and goes. No more TV ads, no more phone calls (I'm not answering them), no more political junk in the mailbox etc. What will be will be and I will honor whomever gets elected to the highest office in the land.

Well, time to stop rambling about noting here and get this day moving. Nothing special on my agenda. Wishing all of you a nice day, those at the TX GTG, nothing but fun times and memories, those on the road, safe travels.

Irmi, glad the county may be able to give you some help and maybe the damage might not be as bad.

Am really enjoying myself here at the TX GTG. Went yesterday afternoon and bought a new computer. Don't have it put together yet. As soon as I do, I should be able to load my pictures from my camera. It's Windows 8, though and I understand I will have to learn a kind of different OS. Paul did Beta testing on it and says he does not like it. I think my other brother sent it to him to test. Other DB is over QC for a software development company. Oh well, have been through lots of generations of software over the years beginning when you actually had to write your own commands to design whatever you wanted to accomplish. Remember when we went from DOS to Windows.

Drinking my coffee, then going to make my cigarettes and clean my kitchen. I was so tired and left it for this morning. I almost never do that! Decided to talk to Zeee for a couple hours instead of cleaning. Bless her heart, I know she is a good friend when I am comfortable enough to take my bottom teeth out while we are talking.  Not a pretty sight but so much more comfortable.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Temperature is 34 degrees and it's snowing! Dinah, who has probably never seen snow before, is amazed! I would love it to pile up enough so I can bring Orion outside and we can make a mini-snowman! Nice and warm here in the trailer with the electric heat on.

I have tried turning off the firewall in my new AVAST virus program to see if it helps me to stay logged on long enough to post something. It's nice I have an option to shut things off for so many minutes or hours, if this seems to work. If this one doesn't work I will go and try another web shield mode to turn off. Perhaps it's just this satellite connection that is so damnably horrible with just these two forums that I use daily. All other sites seem to work just fine....ones I do not have to log into.

RABBITS was an old-time New England tradition taught to me by my great grandma and grandma----It must be the first word out of your mouth (aloud) that your shout on the first day of every month for good luck that whole month. Any time after midnight on the last day of the month will work, in case you are still up, as I was this time. But, NO other words may be spoken at all to have it work! In all my life, I have remembered only a handful of times, as I usually grumble something right away when I wake up----usually to my dogs!

Irmi, I'm hoping you and Steve do not have the nightmare of cleaning up that you had the last time a storm inundated your house.

Sue, go make your snowman!

I see the kids have the porch llight on now, which is the signal that they are up and about and might need me to watch Orion so they can do whatever is on their lists for today. So off I go. Happy Friday to all! (Now to see if turning off this firewall will help me to be able to post.)
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning all! Glad to hear Irmi that you are getting some help with your damages...my family in the city and out on the island have lots of damages but as they say, "things can be replaced but they are safe and that's all that counts". I was so happy to finally hear from them....it will take our company awhile to get back up and running ..and all our people are just thankful that we will be able too....still in most of our area there is no power but soon, we have a small division that will be ready by Monday..

Dawn, as always you know we do more laughing and yes we both are very comfy chatting. I mean even if you hang me up on the toaster so you can show me how to make soda ( which I've made for 22 years PepsiCo). Hahaha. But love that neat little machine. Yes, I've watch the unveiling.... Now that's a true "friend"....but most of all I am so happy you are thoroughly enjoying your first GTG.....!

Lori and Doc. What a neat surprise. And what a spread you put together. Looked really good. Now I have to do some catching up with you two...

Mitch, Vickie You two...well no words can touch what outcome comes out of your GTG. The words. "Hide and Watch ". Come to mind. Hahaha. But certainly some good food comes out of that also.....and always a good story too. Or should I say "Comedy"

Ok, now my thing is to get my butt in gear and Vacuum. Might need a strong wind. LoL

Hope you all have a great day. And always. God's Blessings shine down on all

Ms Paulette. I tried to download that yahoo. Hahahaha But I'll get it right. Hope you are back in the house.

God Bless

Unless I asked Pepper out loud if he needed to go out! But there is hope for this month after all! Everyone have fun at the Texas gathering and elsewhere, those with bad weathwer and storm damage hoping things will improve. Wendy

Good Morning to All - Have hot coffee and two of the delicious rolls from Lori and Ernie (you'll have to be quick to get one) and that's about it around here this a.m.
We are in Amado, AZ about 20 miles north of the border at Nogalas. Today we'll get our Mexican insurance for the car and the RV. Have to go into Nogalas, AZ to do that. After our scare last year with Willie we were very happy with Sanborns insurance and will purchase it again.
Also have to get a battery for my watch. Amazing how many times you look at your watch during the day.
Had a big dissapointment last night. We always go to the Cow Palace restaurant when here in Amado. Neat place, friendly people, good food, decent prices. So we went there for dinner last night.....New owners, changed decor, new waitresses, changed menu (took our favorites off the menu.) And very expensive. $20 for Salmon, $25 for a rib eye!!!! Bill had Ceaser Salad - not that good. I ordered liver and onions but they were out - so had hamburger - bill was $28. Last time we go there. And as we were leaving we noticed the big steak house across the street was closed - shut down. What a shame. Time moves on - not always for the best.
we will be here until Tuesday for sure - then off we go......
No heat on this morning for the first time. It is a little chilly in here but know it will warm up as soon as the sun comes up.
Downloaded a couple more nook books last night hoepfully I'll have enough to read for months.

Morning All

Looks like a busy morning in here today, I love that.

Was a busy day for me yesterday. Signed up for Medicare, even tho I have a few months left they let you sign up online so that was a plus. They encourage you to do it a few months before you are eligible. Just have to take my required documents into the SS office so they can validate them. Will do that maybe today or Monday.

Secured a job yesterday in beautiful Eureka CA....not. But the pay is good and I do need to work. Checked out a job in Arizona BUT they don't pay well cause they think all their "sunshine" is worth alot. I like to see my bank account grow not get a tan ha ha I don't start until Nov 19th because I have things to do before I head over there and don't want to be rushed. Lordy I hate driving my MH on Hwy 199 over to the coast. It is mostly a white knuckled drive for me...those logging trucks just fly around those curves and often on my side, and the road is already super narrow in spots. Lots of pull outs tho so will just mosey over there and let the people pass frequently.

Changed my signature HA HA Cant wait to change it back... I need to get a better attitude. ONE more year, ONE more year...yup that is my Mantra.

Have lots of online testing to do over the next week...sheesh. Very time consuming and not compensated...it is a yearly thing tho. Urine drug screen, TB test, and physical and I will be good to go.

Glad to see everyone is enjoying the TX GTG and all the Mini GTG's that are going on. Will be sooooo happy when I might be able to attend some of those further east of me. Well guess I better get busy...lots to do. Coffee is gone so yup, time for chores.

Okay, so everyone laugh and call me out of touch with the modern world; say what you will!
You might even chose to call me a Dufus.
But I NEED to know - how in the world do you do a urine drug screen online?

Hello from Canyon Lake. Well actually Loews near Schertz, TX.. Using wifi while DH is looking for a plumbing part. Having great time at gtg. I know the username. I have a hard time with names and I'm trying to remember everyone's real name. Great pot luck of "finger foods" and campfire last night (without the fire). However, we had a skunk that kept coming over to grab leftovers on the ground. Great conversation. I love hearing everyone's stories and experiences. Our trip over was great, only missed 2 turns. Tyler is doing really well. There is a herd of deer that come right up to you and beg for food. Nothing bothers them..however in December they'll be in someone's freezer. They shut down this loop for camping and hunters come to thin out the overpopulation of Bambi's :( DH and I went over to the Natural Bridge Caverns, then drove through the Wildlife Ranch "African Safari, Texas Style". Fun feeding animals from the car. Heading back to CG and going kayaking and geocaching. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all .
