Paintin' on Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Paintin' on Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:06 am

Hey ya all,

Colliemom here this morning. Looks like BarbZ is sleeping in or else we are both busy typing and will both hit post and off to cyberspace we both go  Was really hoping she would have started the coffee this morning as I so enjoy it and need my Morning laugh. Still laughing about the Dr. Pepper incident. Yep, been there done that.

Guess you can figure from the title what I am going to be doing today. Deck painting day! Gonna be sunny and around 80, no humidity. Perfect day to do it. After I take Tessa in to vet for yet another check up on the bladder infection stuff. Think we are turning a corner on that finally.

Feels like fall out there this morning, temps in mid 40's. Was darn hot and humid on Saturday, cold front came throught Saturday night and our temps nose dived yesterday. Barely made 70. Felt so good. I have to admit, that this area has some of the most perfect weather in Michigan I think. This summer has been beautiful. Sure we had a hot humid week in July, and a few hot humid days on and off as well, but for the most part, we have been in the 70's or 80's with sunshine, no humiidty and just perfect days. Even on the days when there has been some humidity, it's not that bad. Big maajor storms also seem to skirt aruond this area as well, not to say we don't have one once in awhile. And we've been blessed with just the right amount of rain compared to the rest of the state. Contrary to what's going on in other parts of the state and the U.S., our corn farmers crops are thriving and they are heading for what might be a bumper year for them.

Dang, been so busy that i haven't had time to read on what everybody's been doing, but BarbZ keeps me up to date. Glad to see Wendy posting these days. Missed you gal. Paulette is planning to sell her rig so she can devote her time to her GD. Well, that's the right move and the open road will always be there. But don't you stop posting Paulette. Barbie is home in MN, and today is the first day on her new job. Judy is enjoying CA. Oh gosh, can't keep up with it all out there. Everybody's either on the road or working at home or what not. All busy busy busy. Summer is fleeting in the north country, so we must get in what we have to do before the cooler fall weather arrives to be followed by winter :)

Well, must move along here. Few things to do yet before we leave for the vet including getting that famous urine sample to take along. She's already done her morning "P" but it was too early to collect just yet. We shall go for a "walk" in a little while here.

So ya all have a good day out there. Keep safe and happy.

Morning everyone. Rig is all loaded up and I'm getting ready to roll down the road. Will be in the mountains of north Carolina for a week, reuniting with my gd and for the annual Brandon family reunion. Gd has been with her dad all summer and I've really been missing her. Will be glad to get her back home and we can get ready for,the new school year to begin. And looking forward to spending time with my dad's sister...the last living of their generation in that side of my family. Dad was pretty close with his sister, so it brings me a warm fuzzy to spend time with her!

Still planning on selling the rig, as I just feel it is the right thing to do at this time in my life. But no, y'all won't be rid of me that easily! I don't post much, but still keep up with all of you on here. It has been a real treat to meet all of you that I have had the pleasure of meeting. Wish I could meet ALL of you face to face...maybe some day?

Well, I'd better get busy so I can get the animals loaded up! Bailey (the geriatric dog) is no problem...Elvis (the geriatric cat) isn't quite as happy about the whole thing. Cinnamon (the 1 yo cat) is still not sure about the whole thing! Once on the road, bailey will lay on the passenger side looking out the little side window that she thinks was put there just for her! Elvis will hide under the sofa until the engine stops and cinnamon will hide out in the bedroom under the edge of the bed. No, I don't crate them when traveling. Can't put Elvis in a crate...he will loose his bowels all over the thing. Cinnamon fights tooth and nail being put into a crate and he's a big boy...so we go the harness and leash route with both of them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week...looks like the weather in the mountains will be about 20 degrees cooler than here...I'm looking forward to it!

good morning ladies
headin off to work in less than an hour, so time to read up and do some emails.
DPS (Dept of Public Safety) meeting this morning, this will be the first of our annual meetings. We are supposed to have them every year for so many
hours and last year the training dept got in trouble with the union for stuff we didn't get that we were suppose to. So, life changes and we just deal.
Hope its interesting so I don't want to fall asleep. This one is in a big classroom at the college, so tables and chairs will be more comfortable than an
auditorium. Not looking forward to those four hours.
I'm about ready to do some painting myself, picked up some color chips the other day. Tired of the stark white in my room and want to go with a warm
brown type of color. Thinking of a nutmeg type brown.
Paulette, enjoy your trip.
Barbzee had a power outage last night so she's a little slow getting started this morning.
Echo, hope your doing better with your hand.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Sue, I would love to have your summer temperatures. Going to be in the triple digits all week here again. We are in August now, so don't see them ending any time soon. Hope Tessa does good at her vet visit today.

Paulette, I agree taking care of your GD has to be your focus right now, but I am looking forward to meeting you on the road hopefully when she is grown up.

Looking to hopefully close today or tomorrow. Matt is anxious. He asked if it was Ok to come drain and clean the pool, start fixing the well pipe and get the roof fixed where the tree limb fell on the eave. Told him, heck yeah! The pecan trees are so heavy this year, I have had a limb break off at least one a week for the last couple of weeks. Since I did not clean out the pool this spring, no one has been able to swim. That has always been Grandma's job. It is a big job too with all the pecan trees we have.

Have all my pictures loaded into my computer and all my CD's loaded into iTunes now. During this, cleaned off my computer desk too. Now to the bedroom. Going to put all my makeup in a nice plastic storage system I found for that. Going to clean out my jewelry armoire into 2 good sized jewelry boxes. My costume and semi-precious jewelry is already in chest I can just move into MH. Then on to culling all my dresser drawers to get down to just what I need to take with me. I have drawers full of pajama and robe sets. Figure I will only need a few of those. One of my vanity things. I always loved my gowns/pajamas, robe and slippers to go together. Don't guess I will need to look "put together" so much in the future in a CG. Giving all my skinny jeans to GD's since I have gained 20 pounds over the last year and a half. Oldest DD was laughing at me last night. She was saying it's not like I can't make more clothes if I decide I need them later.

Time for another cup of coffee and then get my day going.

Everyone have a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good Morning ladies what a wonderful way to start my day! reading posts and knowing where my unseen friends are and what they are doing... it is so interesting how one can be so close to those they have never met... and care about all of their comings and goings... I think the computer is awesome!
Have not seen any deer since Shadow barked at the 3 that were crossing the yard... he is a pill never misses a thing... rabbits are in abundance though!
We had a relaxing day yesterday... then last evening we had chicken, corn, vegies and potatoes on the grill and sliced cucumbers and tomatoes... can't get better eating than that!
I am looking for my new sewing machine to be here mid week... it will be great to take along in Bright Hope! it is 13 lb so I can lift it very easily and it came with oodles of accessories... wow I will be in seventh heaven... have not been sewing much since I made the lace panels for my mobile home... time to get to sewing!!
I have decided to look into renting one of my bedrooms and not moving to a senior housing... I want to see if this is a solution to the shortage of money... it may just give me a chance to travel a bit more...
Glad you have to work painting your deck Sue... ugh I have to do that when I get home too... Oh Barbz glad you had a good nights sleep... Ava I remember those yearly update meetings so you can keep your CDL sort of boring but needed... Dawn are you going to have a storage place to put extras in? If you are like me I love my night gowns and would pack some in a plastic tub and seal them for future use... just thinking! glad you got the pictures in the computer... did you save them on a thumb drive also? that helps with storage space... Paulette you know what is best for you!
Oh well enough of my unasked for advice...
Hope everyone has a great day...

I'm kinda draggin today but I only ask of myself one or two tasks each day. I am proud of myself. The kitchen looks a mess but I have all the cabinets unloaded and most all wrapped in paper and in boxes. I use one fork and one spoon, one mug, and one glass, just keep washing them and paper plates. I will pull everything out from under the kitchen sink in a few minutes. My pantry is unloaded except for food stuff and I will again call the family in to take it away. I don't like the idea of storing it in my building..to much enticement for varmints.
Today I will also empty my bedroom and bathroom drawers. Much of it will go to a charity organization..if it's unopened. Of course some I can store in my bldg. I have a young man (muscle) coming today to be my man monday-friday until this is done...not all day everyday, that would break me but I must have help with my lawn and moving things to my building (it should arrive wed or thurs).
Paulette, enjoy this trip..is it likely this might be last one. I personally think you are making the right decision. These rigs are made to be used and in the years you will be devoting to GD, the depreciation would be clicking down whether used or not. When you're ready again, there will be plenty of them. When I was thinking of buying a used mh I found great bargains in the ones 35' and above. The 30'ers seem to be in demand and they are as expensive and sometimes more than a longer one of same make and model. Of course, we will be sitting on ready to help you.
So it seems Ava and Sue are both carpenters and painters..they will have no problem finding odd jobs when they retire but only on their time, no more deadlines or at least not big ones.
I believe there is something in the air with these washing machines. My granddaughter and her roommate just moved and the old washer they owned died from the move, then they found an old Maytag and it too died..my son is at his wit's end...all phone calls come to him of course..'Dad, we need help'. I gave her my BluRay sound system.. Tony told her to get boyfriend away from his basketball games to help hook it up. He knew he would have to do it but this way he was buying a little time...5 days later..'Dad, can you come help us?'...I guess I have started my electrician apprenticeship..Tony and I ran the pipe for the electical, set the post, cemented it in, then ran the string through the pipe. He backfilled then subcontractors will come and and push the wire through. Tony decided to also run the string so it can be pulled as well as pushed. I'm standing back when all is connected..Now when this is done, Tony will get to move my washer and dryer to GD's apartment.
Kathleen, do you really use all those accessories...I have accessories from sewing machines in my past. Have you thought about doing what I am, putting a pad at one of your children's and living in the RV.
Wendy, 'you went away and left me long time ago, now you come back knockin at my door, "I hear you knockin, but you can't come in, I hear you knockin, go back where you been" Now you can start singing
Barb..I'll be to your house for dinner...

Sitting in a Fleetwood dealer in Davis, CA, getting some warranty work. I had a lot of issues, but was unable to get an appointment while I was driving cross country, so with the advice of Customer Relations, made this appointment three weeks ago. A bit of a problem when I got here and the service guy said they were not authorized to do warranty work for Tiogas!!!!! WHAT????

However, after meeting with service manager and his speaking to customer relations person at the factory, they have started to work on some stuff. It is back in shop now, and I am expecting to be here for several hours. The large items will require parts to be shipped from plant, so that is still up in air as to how long that will take and if that is even doable. I am in California only 16 more days.

Will feel better when all this is over. Am really looking to getting on my way to Grand Canyon and parks in that area. Need a rest after all this driving and traveling.

Sue, glad weather in Michigan is good. I had noticed how hot it was the past few weeks and was glad I was in places where at least the nights were chilly--good sleeping weather.

I really over slept this morning. Our neighbor's barn and pens are behind our house and he must be weaning some calves. They bawled all night. I finally got up and moved rooms sometime this morning so I couldn't hear them.

Maytag use to have a good reputation but I bought mine about the time BJ said they moved to Mexico. I try to buy things made in the USA if I can but some things are hard to find. Since the reports about some of the dog treats made in China killing dogs I read the labels. Some of the companies say the country distributed by. I don't know if they are trying to hide something but I don't buy those either.

I use to sew all the time but lost 2 sewing machines in the flood. My sister gave me a small portable but about all I do now is mend. Material and thread are so expensive I can buy clothes on sale cheaper than making something. My DH was glad when I quit sewing because I would have it spread all over. I'm not into crafts anymore either. What am I going to do with something like that anyway. My DH doesn't like things hanging on the wall and I am beginning to feel the same way. I have a few clocks and mirrors and one painting. The pictures are in an entertainment center.

Our new house came with what I guess is "builder beige". I was going through some of the paperwork and found out that it is just a primer. Looks good to me. The kitchen could use another coat of paint but it is open to the dining room and living room. I don't feel like painting all of that.

20 degrees cooler sure sounds good to me. It's overcast today so not so hot but the humidity is still about 90. Guess we will get our usual afternoon rain.

Getting my hair cut in the morning so making my list of all the things to do. I'm sure I'll run out of steam before I get everything done.
