Derby Day Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Derby Day Saturday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sat May 05, 2012 8:44 am

Fine sleep in morning this is. Come raid the kitchen when you can. The pottery man headed of in the dark this morning to set up for a large (50-60) potter's Spring Fair. Have to decide whether to start moving things around in the rig or run the "I need a new toaster" errand for the elderly step mother. It is gray and rainy here so I am thinking I will get the running around out of the way. The list of phone calls that need to be made keeps growing Monday will be busy for sure!

May your personal journeys today find you further along the roads you want or need to travel.

37 degrees outside when I got up at 6am. I'm watching the thermometer -any lower and I'll have to run outside and cover our young plants in the garden. Where did this come from? I've been watching the nighttime forecast in case of a late frost and we weren't supposed to hit any lower than 42. I tell you, weather forecasters cannot predict our weather or temperatures. Maybe I'd better stick to the old Farmer's Almanac :? Otherwise it's a sleepy saturday (it is saturday isn't it?). I can understand now why my mom started crossing out the day on the calendar when she retired each night. Mary's chronic cough is still hanging on, it seems to be getting a little better each day. But the medications are causing her blood sugar levels to go higher (diabetic) so the doctor prescribed something to help her pill help her pancreas work better. Geez... I'm thinking she'll take this new med until the cough is gone and once she's off the cough meds then try to go back to just her one pill a day. She hates pills, and nose sprays, and inhalers. Every spring and fall she gets bronchitis from allergies and I'm sure as she gets older her body doesn't fight back like it used too. :x Happy Saturday ladies

good morning ladies, typical arizona weather this morning, in the 90's now and will turn on the swamp cooler by 9.
Routine saturday chores today and will also get those started by 9. Lots on my mind right now, new grand baby
is a boy but all healthy, however, there are some other issues and hoping daughter can carry the baby full term.
Seems daughter had some procedure called a leap about a year ago, guess there was some precancerous junk
on the cervix so her cervix is compromised and already thinning. Apparently if the thinning goes too much then
they will have to put a stitch in it to keep it together. I will have to do some research on this thing called leap.
So far all I know is they shave off some of the cervix.
Other thing on my mind causing me some anquish, First grandson is graduating on the 23rd, (praise the lord)
and he had 5 invitations, (told his dad 4) his mom got one, grandpa got two to include his significant other,
Auntie got one and his girlfriend got one. So guess his dad and his grandma mean nothing to him. His dad
should have got the one that grandpa gave to his significant other. Son and I both feel put out but it is what
it is. I can get over it but Son is feeling real depressed about the situation. I plan on calling the school next
week to see if I can get two more tickets, or if we even actually need one to watch the ceremony.
Gracie still getting bouts of tummy troubles and I still think its her bad teeth putting toxins in her system.
Waiting for my tax refund so I can go get her teeth done, know she'll loose some for sure. Was really hoping
to put my tax refund in the gas tank for a trip in July but Gracies health is more important. Pixie is going
to need her teeth done too so that pretty much takes care of the tax refund.
Another thing taking up my brain cell energy, big meeting at work on Tuesday, was a big announcement
that our director of transportation and one of the supervisors was put on administrative leave and our
acting temporary director is one of the head guys from maintenance. Its all good news but still was a
shock. They had gotten rid of the other supervisor over christmas so lots going on at work but my job
is secure, I'm not worried about that. Thanks to the NEA, things are getting fixed although it will take
some time and the seniority list will mean something again. Now by the time I can retire I just might
have a little more in the kitty. Hopefully we've seen the last of favoritism and nepotism down there.
Speaking of the kitty, Lacey is in a fabulous home and the lady just LOVES her. I'm happy :D
On that note, I'm off to view a few more posts and then check in my facebook. Ya'll have a
great day and be safe, hope you have good weather.

Good morning all (California time)! I am safely in MN right now. I thought my dad's renter had internet service but he doesn't, so I had to wait until I could get to the library where I am now. I just met with a school friend of mine I haven't seen for almost 12 years, so that was fun getting all caught up! I am on my way to visit old co-workers at GC's and then visit another friend of mine this afternoon.

It has been rainy off and on here and there were several tornadoes south of here yesterday but nothing severe around this area luckily.

My dad's cat, Rosie, is getting old. She is very thin and my dad mentioned that she doesn't eat much lately. I think she has some bad teeth that are making her reluctant to eat so he is going to bring her into the vet Monday morning to get her checked out.

Some old friends of ours stopped by my dad's house yesterday afternoon. Haven't seen them for probably 20 years since they moved to Florida. They are up visiting family this week too. The husband used to work with my dad at Cargill, and I used to work with his wife there too. So we had a nice visit!

Will be seeing my daughter on Tuesday so am very excited about that!

Don't know when I will get back on line but will stop in and say hi, when I do.

Have a great day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good afternoon
We said good by to Carol this morning as she was moving on to another location.
The day started out cool and rainy but by late morning warmed up and we are hoping the rain is gone so we can see the super moor tonight.
I did manage to get a few photos yesterday so you might get to see a little of our TN gtg. Not sure when I might have enough signal to post. Deer Run Park will have WiFi and cable in the campground later this summer but not yet. No local TV stations for antenna so we will miss the run for the roses today.
Wendy, Nancy and I are just hanging out this afternoon and enjoying our surroundings.
Wishing all some fun for the day.
