Wet, Windy Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet, Windy Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 20, 2012 6:02 am

Good Morning,

Guess I had better get some coffee brewing around here. Gonna need that warmth with the weather we're having right now. Cold (37) and windy with heavy rains moving through. Gonna be a raw day today. Definitely no working outside at the park today. Might even have some of the white stuff mixing in too. Sounds like this might become a major storm for the East Ccoast too, so those of you out that way, better prepare. And both of my two dogs have been out and in and back out again. Sassy loves raw weather and was laying out there enjoying the wind and rain. Came in soaking wet. You think I had just given her a bath. Maybe I should soap her up and send her back our for a rinse

But it's Friday. Hooray. I just got my schedule for the next two weeks and won't be working weekends yet until our Staff Orientation on May 12th as that's mandatory for everybody. Not sure about that Sunday yet. Since I will be working or meeting as I should say on the 12th, the boss gave me a three day weekend the weekend before. And I plan to put that to good use. I need what I call a U.P. fix and want to go up into the U.P. for a couple of days. Am waiting to hear from the resort I stay at to see if they can accomodate me for a couple of nights. Last chance to get away for a couple of days, at least up that far anyway. It's about 230 miles from here and all two lane road driving except the first 60 miles or so on I-75. So it takes a little time to get up there.

Kathleen, I hope you are feeling better this morning as you work your way hoime. And also hope you get to stop and see Wendy and Sarah. And Sarah, would you please ship me up some of those fresh strawberries :)

Maggie, if you fly into MI and are going to be up north here, let me know where you are and maybe we can get together someplace if the timing is right.

Dawn, hope your husband's condition continues to stay stable for both of you. He is in my prayers.

Lenore, I know what it's like to not get a good haircut. I have a lady near here who has a small shop and she does a great job of cutting my hair. Finally found somebody who can do it right. I need a cut now too, but with working M-F when she's open, is hard to do. Gonna call her and see if she can do me maybe tomorrow. She works full time as a CENA at a local nursing home and runs her shop in the afternoons for a few hours as she works the night shift at the other place. She's cloased on Wednesday and does Saturday by appt. only.

Not sure what I will do this weekend. Going to go bum someplace I know. My friend comes next weekend and we are talking about going bumming someplace too, on that Saturday. I'm very interested in hearing what she learned at the Host Training she will be at just before that. It might be something I might do someday too.

Well, time to get going here and also check on some of the other threads. I know I'm behind on a lot of stuff. Have missed a few birthdays along the way too and want to wish belated Happy Birthdays to those who have had them. Think i have caught up on all the new folks on here, but if I have missed somebody, Welcome to the Forum.

Have a good day all.

Safe journeys, Kathleen.

Sue - I will definitely let you know if I'm headed that way. Sounds like you would be a good resource for things to do in the mitten area on up into the UP if I work that in to one of my trips.

Beautiful this morning - I had to put my sunglasses on during the drive to work. But going home may be a whole other matter. We have a front moving through the state today. But the weekend is supposed to be nice but windy. Feel sorry for all those cyclists - 13,000+ that will be riding into that wind. Yeah, this is the largest bike ride in the country from what I hear and they have to cap it every year now.

I'm getting major hitch-itch. Wonder if I can get reservations next weekend at the local park. Probably not but I think I'm going to head over to the Parks & Wildlife site and check it out.

wet here today too.. but think its suppose to clear up in the next day or so...Actually Sat is predicted to be 67 and Sunday up to 75!! a total record for this yr..
Wish i could take off again, but its not in the cards.. will wait till next month then decide where i want to go camping.. Pretty much got caught up with the yard work, so may head down to the Ridgefield Wildlife Center to take some pictures... I havent been down there yet.

I just got a new point and shoot Cannon SX40HD camera, so i wouldnt have to lug around the Cannon T3i and those lens all the time.. its amazing what the SX40 offers.

Cant believe its the end of the week already!! but everyday is pretty well the same, so no news on this end.. Hope everyone is having a good time if your out on the road, or in a park someplace ...... have a great day!

Good morning Ladies !!!! I'm having a hard time keeping on track this morning. Trying to clear my big walk in closet out of all things I don't want and have not used. I keep running into things I forgot, and then there are the memory type things, so here I am for a few mins.

Cloudy and overcast outside here, rain not really expected until tomorrow. Plans were to get closet done this morning and then mow this afternoon, as grass needs it and can't do it when wet. If I wait until Mon. or Tues., it will be so high , hard on the mower. Plus clumps lay here and there and I don't have time to rake or the want to. I hope I can mow this afternoon :D

Hopefully you're feeling better Kathleen and on your way, take care and safe travels to you !!!! I'm sure ready, me, not everything else  To bad sometimes you can't just climb in and drive off. Always so much planning, doing and just plain work , but once you're on the road, its all worth it. I'll be ready soon.

Hope you all have a great day, Those on the road, hope your weather is good and stay safe, those with illness and problems, you're all in my prayers each day.
Back to the closet !!!! :( :o

Warm and sunny today! Sue, can't believe how different the temperature is just a hundred or so miles north of me!! They predict some light thundershowers tomorrow and temps in the 50s, but that is pretty normal for this time of year.

Today is the closing on my condo that I have waiting for so long. I won't believe it, however, until the check is in my hand and deposited in my bank.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning ladies. I am really up late this morning. Chuck had a good night after sleeping almost all of yesterday. It sure was lonely yesterday afternoon with him sleeping so much. His oxygen was good all day, so he was just tired, I guess. When he got up this morning, I got him dressed and fixed a pot of coffee. Once he was settled, I went back to bed for a little while. Sure needed it. Someday I am going to have to learn to sleep more than a couple hours at a time again.

Sue, glad you are getting weekends off until May 12th and going to the U.P. I was up there once in the middle of winter. Have never been so cold. LOL. Need to go back in the summer.

Kathleen, like everyone else, hope you are feeling better and are back on the road.

Judy, congrats on the sale of the condo.

Carol, good luck with your closets. I dread tackling our closets someday. I dread getting my Mom's down to just what she can take in the RV someday. That lady has a lot of clothes! Good thing she loves the idea of hitting the road someday too.

Well, got to go. Have to fix Chuck's shot and then get his breakfast. Hope everyone has a great day and safe travels if you are on the road today.

Good morning gals! Nice and sunny here again today. Supposed to get into the mid 80's later on. Will be working all day tho.

Sounds like there is trouble in paradise for my roommate and her fiance. I think they are postponing the wedding indefinately now. I knew that was gonna happen... so still need to look for another, bigger place to live. I keep wanting to clear out my room to make it more comfy and roomy for me, but there is no place to clear it to. I really need more space. I still have my cartop carrier on my car since I have no place to put that either.

I have tomorrow off but don't know what I will do yet. I hate to waste a Saturday doing laundry. I will go thru my 'San Diego Things To Do' book and find some place free to go that I haven't been to yet.

Recently I have been noticing red areas on my upper cheeks with little blister like things, and I figured out last night that I have rosacea. I found a natural product on line that is supposed to really help clear it up, so hopefully it will work well for me. Anyone else here have that? I guess it is fairly common when going thru menopause.

Have a great day!

My friend here in Palmersville was recently diagnosed with rosacea. What the natural product? The meds prescribed to her had some ugly side-effects (it was acne medication).

Thanks.

I ordered Azeliac Acid cream. Here is some info on it:

"Azelaic acid is a very popular skin treatment that is used on a wide range of skin conditions, especially rosacea. It is a naturally occurring acid that is generally found in grains such as barley and rye. It is very effective in treating rosacea, due to it being good at reducing inflammation..."

"Azelaic acid is an antibacterial and antiproliferative agent that has anti- inflammation properties. It is commonly used for the treatment of different skin conditions, including acne and rosacea. It does this by facilitating skin renewal, which results in a decrease in blemishes and blackhead development. It also acts to destroy the bacteria before it causes an acne or rosacea outbreak..."

"Azelaic acid works in treating rosacea due to the fact that it has anti-inflammation and antimicrobial properties. The anti-inflammatory properties will reduce the amount of redness, pustules and papules that are often associated with the condition. The antimicrobial properties will slow down the growth of skin bacteria that causes the condition."

"There are minor side effects that are associated with azelaic acid. Some people will experience itching, irritation, dryness and redness."

I will let you know how it works!
