Brrrrrr Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Brrrrrr Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Apr 04, 2012 6:57 am

Good Mornng,

Woke up this mornng to about 28 degrees outside and 62 in my house  Now that shouldn't be a big deal, except that my thermostat is set for 70. Soooooo. basically I have no heat in the main part of my house. BRRRRRRRR. I have hot water baseboard heat and that tells me that my zone valve has had it. Will be placing a call to my heating folks in a bit here. I'm not in desperate shape as I have my gas stove going in my living room where I am sitting right now. Was planning on taking a nice warm bath this morning, NOT! Freezing in the bathrooms. Not going to gym class either since I will have to wait for the repair guy. At least it's today and not next week when I have to run off to work. Great start to my Wednesday.

Am watching the Weather Channel and seeing all the destruction caused by the tornados and severe storms. I hope that none of our forum sisters were near that messs. Please check in and let us know you are okay. I have been in few tornado storms in my lifetime, but fortunately the funnel cloud did not touch down in the area where I wa., One did pass over us on the expressway once when we were on our way up north here to our then vacation home. We parked under an overpass cause of the hail, not knowing that it was a tornado that had touched down and picked back up, went over the expressway and a bit later touched back down and destroyed a large area in a small town north of where I lived at the time. We later drove through the area and witnessed the destruction first hand and also saw the pictures that a friend who worked for a gas company had taken as he was one of the first to go in to shut down the gas lines. But I don't think I have ever seen anything so frightening as watching those semi truck trailers being picked up and tossed about like toys in that Dallas area tornado. Even the Weathre Channel folks said the same thing.

So I don't know where my day is going to lead today. Need to make my heating repair call shortly and then get dressed and wait. It's a beautiful morning out there with bright sunshine, but frost covering the ground. I ordered a new cell phone from TracPhone and need to activate it, so will do that while I am waiting. I have other things to putter with as well.

Watching some of these warning ads on TV about the side effects of some of the more popular medicines, which of course are put on my law firms looking for business suing the pharmaceutical companies, makes me wonder why, if those medications cause so many problems, that the FDA even issues an okay for us to use them. In many cases we need them for a certain health condition, but at the same time we are slowiy killing outselves as well

Well, enough of this garbage. Must get moving around here. Those of you in the path of these storms, keep an eye on the sky, an ear to the weather radio. Those who might be on the road, do the same if you are in those areas.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Sorry you are finding a chill in the air inside your house this morning, Sue! Sure hope it will be an easy fix, and that you can get on with more fun stuff.

This is supposed to be the last of our record-breaking hot days down here (not one of which have I minded, by the way) and then a cold front will infiltrate tomorrow afternoon or night into Friday morning. After the possible rains and wind accompanying that front, the same one that devastated the Dallas area, but much weakened, the temperatures should be in the high 70s for the weekend, with really cool nights---perfect for staying in the trailer and trying to train Dinah with the zapper collar to come when called.

My roses here in front of the house have become prolific, and my potted tomato plant on the screen porch is producing yummy fruits. They are full-sized tomatoes, and are so good with my tuna salad sandwiches and steak dinners.

I love this climate right now, but fear the hundred degree days of summer down here. It is my motivation, along with my ache to see little Orion, that is sending me north again. I guess I also miss my mountains and clear mountain streams. Now the biting bugs-----ACK! None down here, so I will be in shock when I get to the black flies back home!

I will probably stay right here until early Saturday morning or later Friday afternoon, whenever the storms are over, to head for St. Cloud, Easter celebration with my kids there, and my trailer. I am bringing some stuff to repack in there----not much, mostly a few clothes that I have used here at the house, and dog supplies. I also need to bring the huge cardboard box that my TV came in so no one knows what is in this house that will be empty of humans for another several months. We will burn it in a campfire, if the rains come to St.Cloud to allow the burn ban to be lifted.

I also need to get my maps ready for traveling, and make sure my GPSes are updated....both my bit%^ in the truck, and Tom. Hauling for me is still a very tense job for me alone, and I suppose it always will be. I have never looked forward to this long trip alone. Everybody always tells me, "Relax and just have fun." I can't. The only time I feel relaxed at all is when I finally get parked for the night. And then I worry about getting back to the highway for the next day's journey. Sigh. What I am really thankful for is that I have my own bed and stuff, and that the dogs can be with me. No trying to find a motel that will take pets and that is free of dirt and bedbugs. Otherwise, I would sell my trailer and just travel via truck.

Happy Wednesday to all out there.

Happy travels!

Sue, your heat system almost made the winter. Hope your service people are more dependable than some here. I just love waiting for someone that doesn't show up or call. I got my new washer and dryer delivered yesterday afternoon. I do have to say that the 2 that finally showed up were very careful to not hit a wall or make a mess. The ones I had were about the size that would be put in an RV. The new ones are full size so I should only have to wash half as much. ;)

We got another inch of rain this morning. The worst of it had fizzled out by the time it got here so the wind wasn't bad. I have seen the pictures of the trailers being thrown in the air. That's just hard to believe. So far I haven't heard that anyone got killed by the tornado in Dallas.

I would have to be really sick to take some of the medicine that is advertised on TV. Some of it is for conditions that are an inconvenience and the warnings say the medicine could kill you. About the only thing I will take is aspirin. If my shoulder is hurting enough I will take an Aleve. Sometimes I wake up with cramps in my legs or feet and I have found that Aspirin will even help that. Guess it helps me relax so they will ease off.

My son and family are coming for Easter so need to decide what to cook. We don't like ham that much so guess it will be stuffed chicken. Need to get the girls something. Kids today have so much it's hard to know what to get them. The parents don't want them to have a lot of candy and I can't get the little one crayons because she will color on everything.

Better get moving and get something done.

Good thing your heat went out today instead of one of the really cold and icy days during the winter when you might have ended up with frozen pipes!!

Bought two folding rocking chairs from Camping World last night. I tried one out there last fall and since then have been sitting on and checking out similar chairs in a bunch of stores but couldn't find any that were as comfortable and fit me as well. So went and got them. What I still need to get is a cushion for the driver's seat to replace my dining room chair cushion that is the wrong size and not comfortable. Might try some auto parts stores.

This weekend, I have plans to clean the inside of my car so it is in sellable condition, go through the four large bins of grandparent and great-grandparent stuff and consolidate them, and get a box of stuff ready to send to my California son. (Need to do some general dusting and vacuuming also.) I have three days off, so hopefully I will get these tasks done.

Beautiful and sunny here in lower Michigan with temps in mid-40s as I drove in to work. Got my car washed as supposed to be sunny for several days.

Morning all, it;s been hot in Alabama, Storms supposed to come in later but not as bad. Martha, there is something called Color Wonder that only colors on the special paper! I always just figured the ads had to tell the worst things that could happen, especially since they all seem to have to same side effects. Like they tell you what COULD happen whenever you get a medical procedure done. I've beenkind of bored last few days, but there's not really time to do much until get ready to fo meet the ladies in SC. Everyone have fun and STAY SAFE! Wendy

Judy I got one of those rocking chairs. Wish I could say I love it. I probably will when I can use it more. Been staying too many places where it doesn't sit level and therefore isn't a good place to use it. Actually, I think I could put it on the patio where I am now.... hmmm - if it warms up enough this afternoon, will go out there with it and my Nook for awhile. That sounds so good.

At the 3 Rivers Petroglyph Site right now. About to go up and take pics. Probably will be repeats from the pics I took 3 years ago when here - but hey, that's ok.

Sue, sorry about a problem with your furnace. Don't know how cold it got outside here - but the last few mornings I've awoken to it 50 in the rv. I don't turn the heat on at night - but yesterday and today turned it on and went in the tiny bathroom with the door closed to get dressed. Then heat off- as I know it'll warm up during the day. I'm showing it at 66 in here now. Not going to get much over 70 or so outside today - one of the coolest days since I got on the road after the gtg in TX. Amazing the weather we've been having. This is still warm for here this time of year.
