Gone Traded it_Ford Edge SEL AWD 2008 for Sale

I have decided to sell Ed (Ford Edge SEL AWD) and get a smaller weighing toad. The Edge weighs in naked at about 4280 pounds and by the time I have it loaded with the extra propane tank (about 45#), the brake buddy (about 25#) and now the kayak (about 40#) and full tank of gas with 5 full sized tires I am weighing in at about 4520 pounds. The gas I calculated as the same weight as water. The base plates won't fit on any of the other cars I am looking at so it will come ready to be towed. No tow bar, just the base plates for a tow bar that stays on the MH. The wiring terminates into a 4 flat connector, and it has today about 53,000 miles on it. It is bright shiny copper-orange in color. The 5 tires are very new as I bought one in February and the other four in June or July. I have an extended service plan on it that I can transfer but it would cost you what I would get back on canceling the policy.

Let me know if you are interested. I can deliver it to most anywhere.

Good luck! I got the lightest weight automatic I could to tow. I hope we have a taker out there. You want me to put a message on the single's forum - in case anyone there might be interested?

Sure Beth, do that for me. They can contact me at kc5cbz AT hotmail dot com. I can sell the brake buddy, too. So I may put that up on another post. I know you were looking for one, but I only just decided if I change cars to change braking systems.

OK - copied the ad over there- put in your email as you did here. Added the brake buddy.

Out of curiosity, why are you changing braking systems?

I am looking to downsize the 'stuff' I carry around. There is a system that stays in place all the time and works off the brake light and deceleration of the rig. SMI Stay-IN-Play is what is called. Putting the brake buddy on and pulling it off, starting the car and running it through gears, and re-setting up the Buddy is no big deal, but I really don't want to do it any more if I don't have to. I carry the brake buddy in a plastic box in the trunk of the car and that is where I want to carry my kayak. That means I'll have to find space in the storage rig area to put the Buddy.

Makes sense. Mine fits in the trunk with my kayak - but I like that braking system - just wasnt in my budget now. I would really like that one switch turn on/off - you know how I feel about towing - somewhat ambivalent. With that, it would be that much easier. You'll have to tell us all how you like it after you get it, and we can (or I, at least, can) drool.

I have the US Gear unified tow brake system. It works off the vacuum system of my car so when the brakes are applied in the MH it also does the brakes on my car. It is adjustable and has a lever for those "quick" stops I can use if needed. It has a 6 pin wiring system and also charges the battery in my car so no dead batteries when I arrive. It sounds like basically the same kind of system.

I just sold my Saturn and will be putting it on my new Equinox when I have the time. They took it off my Saturn and are keeping it for me until I have time to get it installed...again. I am getting a new tow bar when I finally get home from the coast so will have it all done at once. I didnt want a box I had to fool with taking it in and out so this was the best system for me.

Okay - I traded Ed in for Herbie - a 2008 Chevy HHR LT in Oklahoma University Red. (Boomer sooner, boomer sooner, ta dah, ta dah)

Deal I couldn't resist. I think!

Nancy, you will love your HHR. You will never know she's back there plus the storage it affords is very nice. Glad you got a good trade.
