Snack Pretzels

Sheila, I've been promising you this simple recipe ... hear it is ... with some other suggestions under:

Snack Pretzels

1 lb small whole pretzels
1 stick of margarine
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix (I recommend the Spicy HVR mix)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. In cake pan, melt margarine (in oven). When melted, mix Worcestershire sauce and dressing mix. Stir well. Add pretzels and again stir well. Cook for 1 hour, stirring the pretzels every 15 minutes.

Okay, I quit making this because HVR has MSG in it... boo hiss.But occasionally do anyway, like when you had it. I just did a search and found a way to make a similar dry mix which I still need to try but here it is ... will have to see what to do to make it spicy - maybe just add red pepper flakes ...

Dry Ranch Dressing Mix

1/2 cup dry buttermilk powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley, crushed
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
Combine all ingredients in the container of a food processor or
blender and process on high speed until well blended and powdery
smooth.

To use for above, just replace the dry HVR package with some of this ... I don't think the 1 tablespoon for dressing below would be enough ... but experiment! And again, I'll be adding crushed red pepper when I do it ... just need to find how big a package buttermilk powder comes in!

To use mix: Combine 1 tablespoon dry mix with 1 cup milk and 1 cup
mayonnaise. Mix well.
Makes 2 cups salad dressing
