Frozen Tubes of Biscuits

Frozen Tubes of Biscuits

Postby mitch5252 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 6:22 pm

Remember back a few months ago, I said I put some tubes of biscuits in the freezer.
Used one tube the next day and it was fine.

Today, I used the other tube I had thrown in the freezer.
To use one of Soos' favorite words - ACK. Really ACK.
I have changed my opinion on freezing tubes of biscuits.

What made them ACK?

They were off-color and...the outside texture was weird, once cooked.
They didn't taste bad - they were just unappealing.

Could they still work in the Chicken & Dumplings recipe?

I wouldn't do it again. They just don't look "right". And canned biscuits are so cheap, I can just throw them out if I don't use them in time from the fridge. Or whip up a batch of dumpling dough from scratch.

No more freezing for me.

Why are you being nice? You haven't slammed me in this thread once...it's probably a case of, "just wait. It's coming..."

You'd have better luck freezing biscuits that you'd already made. Bread products freeze well. Then you could just take out one to use.

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that I was using the dough as "dumplings", like the Pest taught me.

Gotcha. Have you tried the biscuit dough that comes frozen?

I buy the frozen biscuits and they work great!....bake 2 or 3 at a time....but do note that if I forget they are there and then decided to use them a month or so later...they look a little off color, but still taste good....
