Broccoli Salad

Postby Liz » Wed Jan 30, 2013 4:51 pm

Had a couple requests for this recipe at the FL GTG, so am posting it here.

Broccoli Salad
1 lg head broccoli, uncooked, cut in small pieces
1 med. onion chopped
10 slices bacon, cut in bits and fried
1cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
2 T vinegar
4 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

Cut bacon in bits and fry, drain
Mix bacon bits with mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar.
Pour over rest of ingredients, stir.
Let stand 1 hour before serving.

So basically a broccoli slaw with bacon added. Sounds really good!

I love this recipe...mine also calls for 1/2 cup of raisins!

I will have to try this recipe. I was searching the internet on my lunch hour for broccoli slaw type recipes.

It is the best broccoli salad I have ever had. Thanks for posting the recipe, Liz. I am going to have to make this as soon as I can get to a store for the broccoli. I have everything else.

Same as my recipe, but mine has the raisins (I don't like raisins, so I use dried cherrys) and sunflower seeds. Cali style I guess. Sometimes I just use bottled coleslaw dressing. Walmart has broccoli slaw mix so I use that along with a head of broccoli chopped.
Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar and fat.

Me too Sharon, except I like dried cranberries! yep, Cali style! (cranberries and sunflower seeds go in my coleslaw too) ;)
