Eggnog from scratch (if ya don't do rum, just leave it out)
Original recipe makes 12 servings Change Servings

12 jumbo egg yolks

1 pound granulated sugar

1 quart whole milk

1 quart heavy cream, lightly whipped

1 liter spiced rum

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Beat yolks in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar. Beat until mixture thickens. Stir in milk and rum. Pour into a large punch bowl and chill for 3-4 hours.
Fold in whip cream before serving. Garnish with freshly ground nutmeg.

OMGosh - does it come with the address of the nearest cardiology ICU?
But it's soooo good.

I'm going to try and make some with fake eggs, fake sugar, etc. to try and hold off that by-pass surgery...

For grins, I'm going to figure the nutrition.

well, I do need more protein and more potassium and which fat is the good one? :D <---this is me grinning you know cause I enjoy being
silly and lately I've been out of control with silliness and its not the sugar, (I don't think) I've stayed away from all the HIGH FRUCTOSE CORNSYRUP.
Oh wait, maybe I'll take that back EVERYTHING IN THE MARKET has high fructose cornsyrup in it. Honestly, I've mostly consumed meat lately :D

Haha, guess it's a good thing egg nog has never been a favorite of mine. I easily skip it and any recipe containing it. I have enough fattening and sugar heavy things I have too much trouble skipping ... nice for one to be easy to pass.

Mitch, is that nutrition for the whole bowl? What about just one little tiny cup? I love eggnog!

It's ONE serving!! (Ava's recipe said 12 servings, so I just divided the whole by 12). Here's the info for the entire recipe:

Image

I ran the numbers for volume, although I could not figure out how much volume a pound of sugar would add...this recipe, divided by 12 servings equals 8.91 oz. per serving, so it's a BIG glass. (and you just know I couldn't do the math WITHOUT the rum. :D )

I am so hungry for some eggnog now!!! I have to get my "healthy" ingredients today...

FYI, here's the Recipe Calculator I found on the internet. After an exhaustive search, this was the only one I could find that calculated YOUR personal recipes...I have used it a lot.

Ava, I've seen full body shots of you - you are so thin, you can afford to drink this.
I'm jealous!!! You're lucky.

Well the sodium is not bad for one serving. I always check that first. ;)
