My favorite easy Apple Crisp (by Betty Crocker)

Apple Crisp - The perfect recipe for an abundant apple season. After one taste, you’ll want to make it again and again.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Total Time: 50 Minutes
Makes 6 servings


4 medium tart cooking apples, sliced (4 cups)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Ice cream, if desired



Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening.
Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients (except ice cream) until well mixed; sprinkle over apples.
Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with ice cream.
Makes 6 servings

*If blueberry crisp is your cup of tea, simply use 4 cups fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blueberries for the apples.

That's my favorite apple crisp too, Barbie. Seeing that pic is almost as good as eating!

well now, that one looks a whole lot easier than some of the other ones I found on
my search engine. They were so detailed it was very intimidating. Gotta love
Betty Crocker.

That one is still not easy for me - here's one I'd be willing to try:

Easy Apple Crisp
Ingredients:

5-6 apples
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
cinnamon
1/2 cup flour
white sugar

Directions:

1. Slice apples in baking dish (peeled or unpeeled).
2. Sprinkle cinnamon and white sugar over apples.
3. Mix remaining ingredients with a fork and sprinkle on apples.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.


And this next one is even better for me -less ingredients - less for me to have to throw away later:

Ingredients
6 apple - peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup water 1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Arrange apples in an even layer in bottom of baking dish. Pour water over apples.
In a medium bowl mix together cake mix, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter or margarine until ingredients are thoroughly blended; mixture will be crumbly. Sprinkle mixture over apples.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes.

Beth, that second one sounds good with the cake mix. Will have to try that.

Just my laziness showing, but I'd start with a can of pie filling and add the crisp topping and call it good!! :lol:

The recipe I used looked a lot like the one Barbie posted but I used one that said to cook it in the microwave. I started out in the microwave but the topping wasn't getting crisp so I put it in the oven for a while. It would be hard to mess one of these up unless you burned it. :lol: One recipe said to use a package of Oatmeal cookie mix for the topping. That sounded easy.

At a rally I went to someone made a dessert using canned pie filling, sprinkling a yellow cake mix over the filling and pouring melted butter on top and baking. I make that a lot, it's so easy. To keep from making a lot(and eating a lot) I will take a can of peach pie filling, drain a can of sliced peaches and add(I like more fruit), use half the box of cake mix and about half a stick of butter in an 8X8 pan. Bake for about 30 minutes at 350 until it is brown on top. You can make any flavor of this. Cherry is good too.

Martha, that's called Dump Cake because you dump in a few ingredients and bake.
I use 9x13 pan, dump in 1 lg can of cherry pie filling and one can of crushed pineapple (the can size is one bigger than the tuna can size).
On top of that sprinkle the yellow cake mix then coconut and chopped nuts, then finally the stick of melted butter. Bake till bubbly and browned.
Wonderful warm w/ice cream and even better the next day. Very sweet/rich, tho. :shock:
