Yesterday I bought something that I had never seen before! Tomato paste in a toothpaste type tube! What a great idea...always hated those darn recipes that call for 2 TBSP of tomato paste because I'm just not the Martha Stewart type who would freeze what's left into 1 TBSP portions.

That's neat since there are plenty of times when I don't use a whole can and end up just throwing it away. What brand is it?

The brand is Amore and it comes in a 4.5 ounce tube. It's double concentrated so you only have to use half of what a recipe states. It's a little higher than regular tomato paste, but when I think of how much I've thrown away because I only needed a portion of the can and I only use half of what is called for....I'm probably ahead. Now I just have to make one of the recipes that calls for a TBSP of tomato paste!

My sister and I looked for it the other day - wasn't at the store we shopped, unfortunately. We were doing one of those 2 T recipes. She did divide up the rest and freeze, I would have thrown it away. I'm going to keep looking and get one for in the rv. So handy that is. She knew of it; I didn't. Neat that you found it! It's not more expensive for someone like me who otherwise would be throwing the rest away!

Just a thought...altho the paste is in a tube and can be stored...how long is the shelf life? If you don't use it up fairly quickly won't it go bad?

Pat... and all.. The tomato paste in tubes has been around for a long time .. also including
Garlic Paste and Anchovy Paste.. Maybe because I'm on the East Coast Metro area..but when I first learned of it
I had to buy in "Specialty shops".. now in most "Super Markets" it's ready available..

Lenora, I keep mine in the frig and it last a pretty long time..

Yes, it sure beats that pain in the butt.. Freezing the paste in cube trays then popping in plastic bags.. Although never
did the anchovy that way ( )... I use them little fishies.. up quick We're big Ceaser Salad eaters..

As far as Martha goes Pat... Me no Martha either !.. She uses too many ingredients that I'd only use one time in my life time.. hahaha...

God Bless...

Zeee.. just being silly here..
