Apple Dumplings

Apple Dumplings

I kept seeing this recipe on Facebook and decided to try it. It's very good and easy enough to make for a GTG in your rig!

2 tubes of Pillsbury crescent rolls -8 each
2 apples, peeled, cored and cut into 8 slices each
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon
1 can Mountain Dew

Unroll crescents, wrap 1 slice apple in each and pinch the edges to seal. Melt butter. Place dumplings in a 9 x13 pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Drizzle butter over dumplings. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mix. Pour Mt. Dew over all.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold with vanilla ice cream.

Now I'm going to bed before I break down and eat another one!

Question Pat..have seen this recipe and wondered but I also don't do pop with caffeine in it..so wonder if Sprite/ 7-up would work? Even when I did drink cola products Mt. Dew just couldn't do had something to do with its color!!!
It does sound good though

Sheila, There is a caffeine free Mountain Dew...or used to be. But I don't see why any citrus based soda wouldn't work.

Sounds yummy. What does the Mountain Dew do?

Oh man, I keep seeing these yummy sounding recipes but I have celiac disease and can't have gluten, which of course the crescent rolls are made of. I'm going to try a substitute when I return home in October.

Red, The Mt. Dew and the sugar/cinnamon mix cook down to make a syrup. It's very good on the ice cream.

I had some peaches and wanted to try this with peaches but couldn't find the recipe so tried to remember it. I only used one can of rolls and one peach but used 1 stick of butter, one cup of sugar and a cup of 7-up. Needless to say it was super sweet and a little juicy but still good. If I make it again I'm going to put 2 slices of peaches in each roll.
