I don't have one but have had salmon smoked in one and it was delicious. It was brought to a potluck I was invited to at Christmastime. Unfortunately, I didn't get (or don't remember) all the details.

I'm with Beth, would want to make sure that the smoke didn't escape the lid. I can just imagine jumping to remove the smoke alarm before the whole camp comes running :oops:
Our son-in-law has a large smoker and he's smokes everything from salmon to turkey. His smoked salmon is to die for. I wouldn't mind trying this also. Wonder if you can use chipped up wood (ie: prunings from our fruit trees) instead of their chips.

I LOVE the thing...barely any smoke has escaped - just enough to make your kitchen smell wonderful. I am "smoked" out because I used it so much (vegetables are delicious!) The unit is very well made and I'm glad i have it. I got the mini one - perfect for one or two.

Here are the wood chips you use...

Thanks, Mitch. Going to have to see if I can find a place to store it - and what to get rid of for it :) I think I'd really like that.

I found a small package of a pork loin I slow cooked in the crock pot a while ago (pulled it and froze it in packages my size...SHUT UP, VICKIE).

I defrosted it and put it in the smoker (on a little tin foil "boat" I made) - it turned out delicious!!! Maybe just a little too heavy on the smoke chips...

Clean up (if you cover the drip pan with foil) is a breeze! I have a friend coming this weekend and I might try and put some ribs in there and then finish them as I normally do.

My brother told me if the food needed to be finished outside the smoker box, to smoke the whatever first, and then do the final cooking whever...

Did a sliced potato on mine tonight. YUM. Will do it again.

I did a sliced potato last nite....how long did yours take, Beth? About 20 min for mine all together. Seemed like a long time to have the smoker on the stove but it came out really good with some salt and butter.

I must have set the heat lower than you. In the oven I would have cooked it about an hour. Went with 40 minutes in the smoker. I didn't use any butter. I sliced the potato, about 1/4 inch slices, added some spices, piled on the smoker and let it smoke. It was great. And I loved that I both cooked it and ate it without use of any butter or oils.

You'e a better woman than me, I gotta have some butter on my tater! But it sure was good...I didn't use any spices, tho.
