It sounds more like a volunteer job -- but it sure would be fun to live in traditional lighthouse keeper quarters for two weeks!

The NPS has one out in the Dry Tortugas (80 miles west of Key West), I’d LOVE to do that volunteer gig, but the wait list is huge.

In some states in the west, you can stay in a fire tower. I always wanted to do that or stay in a lighthouse!

Actually, my dream about 15 years ago, was going on a freighter as a passenger. Many of the newer container ships have nice "owner" cabins with private bathrooms. You eat with the officers, but no choices at meals. And some have both air conditioning and small pools, plus exercise rooms for crew and passengers. You also get a much larger cabin than on a cruise ship--often both a sitting room and bedroom.

Now, you see where I started off being travel crazy!
